USA Today: Legal experts questioning Bryant's arrest

Postby LakersGyrl2003 on Tue Jul 08, 2003 11:41 pm

"He definitely jumped the gun," said Denver defense attorney Craig Silverman, who was chief deputy district attorney in Denver for 16 years. "There was a lack of professionalism on the part of the sheriff's office and a failure to communicate with the prosecutor's office."

That's all I gotta say about this article... He jumped the gun on this one, and since Kobe was allegedly involved he wanted is 15 minutes of fame at Kobe's expence...

i'm not too familiar with the legal system, but can't they somehow investigate the sheriff's office through internal affairs or something for faulty procedure?

Something else I don't like in this case is how the media keeps stressing the fact the girl was 19. They keep saying the accuser is a teenager. That makes it sound like she is 16 or something. I mean at 19, you are still a child but you are also of legal age. The media makes it sound like Kobe is some kind of predator who preys upon VERY young girls. He is only 24 himself. :mad1:

There's something we don't know... Whether good or bad we just don't know it yet...

But I garantee Kobe won't be charged with anything.

If something is properly filed, then I guess some kind of investigating means higher than them can look into them, but I dont know who is qualified to do such a job. They jumped at the fact that Kobe was accused of a false incodent, without the proper evidence to arrest him, so Kobe bein himself, was very coraperative so he wont stir any trouble with the legal system. But he's innocent, and I'm sure of it.

Well, the DA has never seemed convinced that anything should have been done to begin with, nor does he seem convinced that anything will be done.

Another USA Today editorial

Postby Guest on Wed Jul 09, 2003 12:13 am

I'm NawlinsLakerFan. Don't feel like logging in....and am too tired.....so lemme throw this out before I go to bed....

There's another USA Today editorial, not too flattering I don't think .... even uses lyrics from Kobe's rap album, supposedly in an attempt to incriminate him??? WTF?
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/columnis ... nnor_x.htm

Once upon a time as a budding rap artist, Bryant sang these words while lamenting women who chased his fortune and fame:

Think ya eyein' me, all along, I'm eyein' you

The hunter becomes the hunted, girl, I'm preying on you. ...

I figure, hourglass figures could be dangerous

Cuz if your time runs out, they frame you for your clout.

These words were prolly towards his wife when he saw her for the 1st time... But we all know that rappers dont rap about experience, they just try to sell what the audience wants to buy...... :disagree:

As I told LG yesterday, I am praying for Kobe to get cleared out of all this before the 16th so we can have a happy free agent celebration without worrying bout our beloved Kobe. :man11:
