I have to go with game 1 against the Magic. He bullied Pietrus all night long and his jumper was on. I wanted to pick Boston but it was a regular season game. Plus Kobe has several clutch shots against Ray/Boston.

In a not-so-contested win, #30 Game 1 of the 2009 Finals beat out #10 Kobe's Game Winner Against Boston in 2010.

The next match up is #8 Kobe Shutting Down Allen Iverson in 2000 vs. #21 Kobe's 4 Straight 50 Point Games. One was a jaw dropping defensive performance over one of the league's young superstars. The other was an awe inspiring scoring spree the likes of which haven't been seen in the modern era.

I insist that you check out the side-by-side video comparisons on page 2 and remember to vote!

Alright fine, I'll comment

Kobe's 50 points straight in four games plus the 65 point outburst against Portland was the most impressive scoring spree I have ever seen anyone do. Also that 65 point game in my opinion is the best game he ever played in the regular season. We were injury ridden and losing games and Kobe went off, ensuring we stay in the playoff hunt.

The context of that makes those string of games the best he ever played in his career in my opinion.

I don't remember Kobe shutting down Iverson in 2000, so I voted for the 50 point games, which I do remember. I can't remember specifically what game you're referring to with Iverson, but I do remember Iverson absolutely tearing us apart game one of the 2001 Finals in LA, guy was unstoppable.

I think this one should be closer than it is to be honest. And yes I know that means voting against the 50 point outbursts, but if you watch that video of Kobe vs. Iverson, it's a lot of fun. You really can see Kobe's defensive effort and how he used to be a lock-down defender.

Lol sorry realdeal, I honestly had no idea you put videos up on the 2nd page of the thread, I didn't read that far down your post. :man10: I just figured we were supposed to go off memory, like if you were going to put videos you'd do it on each page the new vote comes up on.

I know 50 point games will win. But I'll still vote for the other "Kobe moment" for one reason only: it was an elite defensive performance. We don't have too many of those in this thread. So, I'll go against the grain and probably be the only person here voting for it. :man10:

Just watched the clip of Kobe shutting AI down in that game. He also made some clutch shots down the stretch. Held AI to 0-11 in the 2nd half. Damn impressive.

I'll still have to vote for the string of 50+ though.

Finals games > All-Star games, simple as that, had Kobe not taken over and helped win that game when Shaq fouled out, who knows what happens, series probably goes 7 and nothing is guaranteed.

And that game against Indy was kinda like his finals "coming out" game, because he hadn't played very well before that (it's important to remember he was injured though).

Winning the MVP in an all star game is great, but you can't compare having a great game in an exhibition game to one in the Finals.

I just couldn't vote for a game that we lost to those guys, even though it was a great finals performance from Kobe.
Also, LeBron's career high is 56 points. Kobe did that in 34 minutes. (and then he went and scored 62 in the same time a couple of years later)

Only 5 votes so far, but this one is close. I feel like this is a good one to discuss.

They're both fantastic scoring displays, but one is in the Finals and the other isn't. Although in the one that isn't the Finals Kobe is as hot as he's ever been. And remember that was years BEFORE 62 in three. This was when Shaq was still around (although not playing in this game). Then again the one against Boston was against Boston in the FINALS...

tough call.

Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.
