Bazemore signs with Hawks (p. 12)

Kent Bazemore and Marshon Brooks are intriguing. These two players can definitely become solid rotation pieces for this team. Bazemore looks to be like an athletic wing defender in the mold of a Wes Johnson or Shannon Brown. He has a reputation of being a great cheerleader and teammate so him and Sacre will be fun to watch on the bench.

Brooks is instant offense. He dropped 52 in college and was solid his rookie year and before he got traded to Boston. He has a game similar to that of a young Kobe Bryant, obviously with much less potential. His upside looks to be pretty decent though.

Cruised some GSW sites last night.
Almost no one mentioned Brooks.
Nearly everyone said getting Blake was something for nothing. Called Bazemore a good cheerleader.

Shaq would probably say that's the best 1-2 cheerleading punch ever.

Brooks will probably be out of the league after this season, Bazemore might have a chance somewhere due to his athleticisim.

Here's Bazemore lighting up our Summer League team. I actually like him. He plays with a lot of passion, he's very athletic. I think D'Antoni's system would work well for him.

Marshon on the other hand I'm not crazy about. He's athletic as well, but I'm not sure he's got the same kind of head on his shoulders as Bazemore. There's a reason teams have been shuffling him since he was drafted. That being said, I know he adores Kobe. Maybe there's some magic to be worked there.

brooks looked promising early, but if you can't get pt on the wing in boston...i'm worried. he could grow into a nick young type over time, i guess.

bazemore is athletic, but doesn't have a position from what i've seen. they tried him at pg, but he's really not one, nor does he shoot it well enough to play the 2.

They both have potential so from that perspective I liked the trade. Blake just wasn't healthy enough to be an integral part of this team. When he was healthy he was usually pretty great for us so I'm thankful for that.

good additions to this team, right now Blake was a duplicate player, we get a scorer and defender, and more importantly a couple more exciting, young, athletic players to fight for a spot next season. Hate to see Blake go, but I'm not mad at this trade. Both have the potential to be in the starting lineup for the Lakers within this system and the injury issues we have been dealing with. I think most of you guys will like them once they get acclimated.

At this point, they're bodies, and that's good, because we went into last game with 8 healthy players and Farmar needs to be used cautiously. They may not be great, but they're definitively going to get playing time out of necessity.

My guess is that the first monster dunk by either will generate a thread of one of these guys being the next _ _ _ _ _ ……

From all appearances these guys are not developmental material. Brooks seems to be going backwards and from the little I can find on Bazemore he's a Ebanks clone.

I like Brooks skills, athletic makeup, and ability to hit difficult shots. For some reason, he hasn't been able to put it all together. Maybe D'Antoni can make that happen BEFORE he's replaced (as he should be).

Marshon is 25 with only 2 years of NBA experience. If he is a late bloomer and can raise his game to equal his overall talents... he could be a really good player.

Kent Bazemore is 24 with only 1 year of NBA experience. Kent is athletic but doesn't possess the skill, talent and potential of Marshon.

Either way... while I'm slightly sad to see a solid contributor like Steve Blake gone, we didn't need him with Kendall Marshall now starting. Non-essential Blake for two young potential... I'm ok with that.

In all seriousness, Brooks is decent. I know nothing of Bazemore.

However, with X, Swaggy, Meeks, and Kobe, where is there a role for either of those two? Even if we only retain 2/4, we traded for a non-guaranteed 3rd string shooting guard? Didn't Manny Harris already fill that role?

Brooks is progressively getting worse each year, not a good sign if he is a late bloomer.

You ask good questions, and I'll try to answer them...

-there is no role for them, really, except if we are definitely not going to re-sign Meeks and one of these guys shows huge potential -- which I think is unlikely.

-Yes, Manny filled that role, and he was better then these two guys, IMO.

So, basically, this is a "tax evasion" move. They are cheaper then Blake, they will help us tank and maybe, just maybe, one of them will suddenly start to play like a man possessed. Yeah, I know...

The Lakers saw what they needed to see with Harris. Now on to the next auditions. This season is a giant tryout and we're looking at the next two guys.

We won't be able to bring back Henry, Young, Farmar, Marshall, Johnson, and Meeks for the prices we're paying now. Maybe one of these two can be one of those guys next season.

Worth a shot and it doesn't hurt any more or less than Blake did. I don't really see any problem with this move.

I see Farmar, Young and Marshall making next years rosters.

Bazemore may be a cheap option for SG, to play some defense off the bench.
