Not a great list IMO, I'd actually put Wes near the top of it if we're talking the minimum. I'd only take a chance on Casspi, Aminu, and Beasley ahead of him.

Beasley. He can create his own shot and score. Aminu is a good shooter that can space the floor.

Thanks real. I liked the idea of trying out X at the three last year, but that idea got scrapped pretty quick. I thought he and Swaggy were going to be redundant off the bench as scorers, but they seemed to work it out pretty well. He's probably still more ideally suited as a backup 2 than a 3.

Beasley would be great if he could ever get his head together, but I think that ship might have sailed. Being in LA with all of its vices probably wouldn't be the best for him in that regard. Plus he plays no D and that's the position where we need some especially with a 36 year old Kobe out there coming off two major injuries.

Yeah looking at the list kind of put things in perspective for me a little bit.

Aminu is a good defender, but a liability offensively.
Beasley needs a lot of shots, he's not a good defender, and his head isn't screwed on straight.
Casspi is just average at everything, except he's a decent shooter.
Wesley is the same as Casspi but his head isn't always in the game.
We can't afford Marion.

Jordan Hamilton might be a good gamble. Fairly athletic, pretty good outside shooter. I'd give him a shot over Wes at this point.

I wasn't impressed with Johnson last year. Hopefully it's a non-guaranteed deal. Was really hoping we could pick up some more guys that weren't on the roster last year. Also wonder what this means for Kelly...running out of roster spots.

I'm OK with this and think that Kobe will help shape him the F*** up. When he's hitting and playing well he can be a nice player. How about Kelly now?

Hmm. I'm not opposed to this at all. I don't mind Wes getting another shot at it for a dirt cheap contract. Kobe likes him and he's got potential defensively if he plays the 3 and has a coach who helps him develop.

But still I also liked the idea of getting a guy like Evan Turner as a possibility which we don't seem to be doing now.

Yuck! Now we only have 1.7 mil to sign another player. Not enough for Turner or Beasly now :bang:

Hey, finally have some SF's on the team. Really hope we see some results of his work this summer.
In the real world, the day Steph awoke at 9 a.m. to begin his Ustream show, Kobe Bryant probably awoke at the same time, even if it was 6 a.m. in California, and lifted weights.

Damn I was really hoping we'd go after Turner. Maybe we can't afford him.

I was a big Wesley fan and I'm willing to give him another shot. D'Antoni wasn't a great coach for him just because of the weird things he'd ask him to do (play the four...yikes). Byron will be a better fit hopefully.

I'm disappointed by this move, but we needed a SF.

He has a history as I recall of liking and being motivated to learn when he's working with Kobe and Kobe's teaching him and pushing him. That can't be overlooked. He will be better. Book it! And he still has the great athleticism we need and (maybe) possible "Ariza like" upside, with right coaching and Kobe's help.

Kinda but he was playing the 4 a lot last year which didn't make any sense and he didn't develop any kind of good defensive habits under Antoni either.

I don't mind him having another shot at it, presuming we have B. Scott as HC who will hold him more accountable on D and hopefully instill more diligence on that end.

I mean yeah, it's fine, and for that price you can't really expect better. I was just expecting to get a look at a new player is all, like maybe Beasley or Turner, not the same old same old. It's fine though you're right, he'll be at the 3 where he belongs, and if he's starting his athleticism will help cover for Kobe on D some.

Current roster:

PG: Lin/Nash/Clarkson? (I think Clarkson is a 2 right now)
SG: Kobe/Young
SF: X/Wes
PF: Randle/Boozer
C: Hill/Davis/Sacre

That's 12 players already and we still need to get Kelly in, plus realistically we need another PG since Nash can't be counted on to even play a single minute and I don't think Clarkson is ready to be a 1 at the NBA level yet.

For the money a good move, plus I like Wes. Yes he is not what people thought he would be coming out of college but I remember last season when the team would show signs of really good pressure D, Wes was there. I think he is a better defender and could be a really good one with the right coaching.

like it. should give the lakers some rights to him should he develop more. I thought he showed he can do some things last year (spot up, block shots, slash some). at min, you can do worse.

Wait, who said we used part of the Room exception to pick him up? Looks like a minimum deal to me.
