If it's Hill…. eff it…..do it. Sacre is stepping his game up and is cheap. A little concerned with how Hill gets more minutes and then it's oh crap….guess that's too many minutes.

Oh…. and Young too…..please. :man10: :man10: C'mon Mitch do that thing that you do. :jam2:

^ I feel the same. When the season started (and last year as well) I felt Hill was a MUST-KEEP. Now, I feel he will be overpaid and can be replaced. If we save $4-6M on Hill per year, that's a Wes Johnson or Nick Young contract we didn't have before.

Kobe - $24
Young - $4
Johnson - $4
Farmar - $4
Blake - $3
Henry - $2
Meeks $3
Sacre - $.5
Williams - $1.5
Kelly - $1

That leaves $10-15M ($62M cap) for a free agent & a couple more fillers. So technically, there is still $ for Hill. But if we give it to Hill/Gasol I don't know that we have the bigs to be a contender. Sign and trades?

It totals at $47M. So if we can spend $62M, that leaves $15.

Tough. I question his worth to this team as a big. Offensively - I can't say we need his scoring. We need his rebounding and "rim protection". Which is why the money would be better spent on another big who can actually protect rim and maintain his rebounding. Don't get me wrong - we are a better offensive team WITH Pau. But we cannot spend $10M on Pau. Absolutely not. Honestly, I wouldn't spend more than $5M because we need to go after other players.

If his bird rights allow us to go over the cap, it's a different story. But we likely renounce his rights (to rid of cap hold?). We probably have to do a sign-and-trade.

^^^ This year so far.
Pau

On Court - 101 pts
Off Court - 108 pts

Defensively
On Court - 109 pts
Off court - 103 pts

We are better on both sides of the ball with him off the court.

Yeah the difference is almost none. Partially due to us shooting a LOT of 3's. Theoretically when Pau/Hill are off the court, that's another guy on the court who is shooting 3's so those lineups while have greater volume scoring.

But I admit there is not much of a role for Pau on this team. Retaining him would be for nostalgic purposes. So, unless he takes a significant pay cut, he's not staying. I hope.

Kobe's return will turn Wes into an animal. I cannot wait.
There are two teams that play in the Staples Center:
the LA Lakers and NBA Clippers.

I'm more hoping that Wes' effort on D will rub off on Kobe.. If we can get back a Kobe that focuses on ball movement & defense but still bails us out on broken plays, this team will be dangerous.

He'll have to get used to playing with Kobe and that starting lineup but I feel he'll still be effective. Im gonna throw this game away and look forward for Wes. Huge dunk though was awesome. I think he'll play will increase as Kobe's does and that entire starting lineup with Kobe now has to change the way it plays a bit. Bench can still do its thang, as we clearly saw, and im glad Kobe coming back won't really change their identity and rotation much. Just hope Wes can find his place next to Kobe and hit his shots.

This guy is one of the most athletic players in the NBA and that's saying A LOT. I wish I had his gifts just for one day to see what it feels like. To just jump over people and outquick them anytime I want.

He's active on the defensive end…. that' for sure. Some of it good and some of it not….. going after jump shots is just about the worst thing you can do in individual defense. The % of time you block one successfully is lottery odds or worse.

His success at blocking shots and the notoriety it's getting in the league is feeding this IMO. He is chasing a lot of shots and leaving his man on the perimeter to do it. Good the 10% of the time he gets a block (if we control the rebound)….. bad the other 90% of the time.

I agree he goes for the shot block too much. His strength his in his activity, passing lanes, and somewhat chasedown blocks from guys taking it to the rim. Although he does go for the shot block a lot, at least in some instances he's altering the shot. Might not be a block but at least it's not a made basket. He should pick his spots better.

There will also be a draft picks there as well. I think we go after Stephenson in free agency and with him and the pick. Hill could bring another first rounder this season or in 2015, and let Pau go to the Grizzlies. Let this be a 3 year plan (Durant) of getting pieces and developing the players we bring in.

he needs minutes and a point guard. he has neither, and wont be affective until he has both. kobe coming back will help but not as much as blake/nash/farmar would and more minutes.
