Which team do you want to see in the first round?

Postby nthydro on Thu Mar 21, 2013 7:50 pm

For me, it's between the Clippers and Spurs. Clippers have been struggling and essentially every game would be a home game. As for the Spurs, I think we can match up pretty well with them if we're at full strength (except for the Nash vs Parker matchup).

premature I say. Ask me when we have a playoff spot locked up.

I just want play in the first round I guess...

We'd have to get in the 6th slot to even have a remote chance at the second round.

I'll go along with it and say the Grizzlies. They probably play defense about as good or better than any other team we might face, but atleast their offense isn't as high powered.

The Griz is not one I'd be excited to see at all. They can match us size for size.

Memphis. I think that would require us to move up to the 6th spot, though...

Memphis may be able to match our size but I don't think that matters.. No amount of size will stop Dwight from controlling the boards & dominating on D if he's on his game. No amount of size will stop Pau from having an amazing post game. As long as we keep playing to our strengths we match up great with them.

Spurs. Timmy is declining, especially speed-wise, so Dwight and Pau can do well down low. Memphis is too big in the middle, and they always play us well.

As Denver gets closer to the 3rd seed, the 6th seed is looking less and less good. I'll go with Memphis as well but I think DEN is gonna get that 3rd seed.

Denver isn't a good matchup on paper , tough team at home , currently on a roll ... young and fast/athletic.

However it might be the best 1st round matchup for us , no star player , games at Denver won't be on b2b nights ... 8 1st round exits in the last 9 seasons ...

SAS suit our style more but I'll take the Thuggets in the 1st round with pleasure ...

Don't underestimate the big time players/stars factor in the playoffs

Preferences :
1) Grizz
2) Denver
3) SAS
4) Floppers

5) OKC

2004 says hi......

I'm not sure we can beat a team with a dynamic point guard. Our defense is so poor against that type of player. it's not about "stars" its about X's and O's.... and we routinely get murdered by the likes of Lawson, Parker, CP3 and Westbrook. If Parker is hobbled that's a different story... I'd take SA then. Other than that Memphis is our best shot IMO.

Denver has players at two positions that have dominated our opposing players in the past in Lawson and Faried. I began to actually be embarrassed for Pau the last time they squared off.....

Anybody but Denver I think the Lakers can take out in a 7 game series. I don't know if they WILL, but the ability is there.

OKC has shown tremendous cracks. The Clippers are being slowly exposed by good teams. San Antonio and Memphis play into our hands a bit with their style. Houston is a beatable team. Utah is a beatable team. Golden State is a beatable team.

I think if we had home court against Denver, they're a beatable team too. But we don't, so I don't want any part of that mess.

^I think Den and the Clips are fools gold. The Clips do have some vets that have been there and come up big in the playoffs with Billups, LO and Matt but Den really doesn't IMO. Yea Andre is savy for sure but I don't think the rest can and/or will step up when it matters most. I just don't trust them at all. SAS I worry about because they have the poise down the stretch and multiple guys to take over. Memphis with Zack and Marc worry me because simply Marc is the 2nd best center (arguably the best) in the league right now and Zack has always given us fits. OKC will always remain fools gold to me as long as KD allows Westbrook to act like he runs the team. Westbrook will once again be the reason they don't win. Also, not having Harden will kill them big time in the playoffs. The Lakers can lose a series to ALL the teams in the top 10 for sure but if we are playing our game we can beat any of them.

I think the Clippers are going to fold in the playoffs if they get a tough opponent. They've shown all season long that if you bother Paul, their offense just falls apart. They're so dependent on him it's ridiculous. Especially if Crawford can't get going either.

Denver scares me only because of their home record. It's crazy how much of an advantage you have when you play up high like that AND have a deep bench. It's a good 1-2 punch.

Anybody else in the playoffs has a solid team and a solid system and the Lakers would have their hands full beating them, but they could do it if they played the way they need to play.

We just need to get healthy though. Seriously.

The game plan for every team when they play us it to push the ball and take advantage of our lack of speed. If we turn the ball over it plays right into the other team's hands. The Grizzlies are 2nd in the league in opponent TOV% and we're 14th in team TOV%. Not horrible but we have to do a lot better than that in the PS if we want to keep them from running us to death. The good news is they play at a really slow pace normally so how much they will actually be able to run, I don't know.

i think Denver has peaked too early

i'd like to play the Spurs...even with Parker coming back...we match up well with them...even when we were a complete mess, we gave them trouble

but the team i REALLY want to see would be the tenants...that team is ripe for an early exit

I'd absolutely love to be the team that exposes the Clippers in the playoffs. It'd really show the hundreds of bandwagon idiots to shut their mouths. Especially that p.o.s. Wiley on 710.

Clippers will likely get either Memphis or Denver in the first round. Memphis will tenderize them with the Gasol/Randolph combo inside. Without Martin and Evans from last season they cannot absorb that physicality. Grizzlies have a very good team defense. Denver? Paul will have his hands full with Lawson. The Nuggets could run them off the planet.

Yeah, Memphis beats the Clippers in a series. Max in 6 games.

They got bigs to neutralize Griffin & Jordan. Paul can be stopped with their team D and Conley can play. Prince is a solid wing defender. They might have trouble scoring, but I think the Clippers will have a harder time scoring on Memphis. Praying for Clippers/Memphis.

Denver could take them too, but the pace that the Nuggets play favors the Clippers. Not so much the case with Memphis

I could see every team outside of Houston and Utah knocking the Clippers off in a 7 game series. We could. SAS definitely can. Denver, OKC, Memphis, and even Golden State could all be very tough match-ups for them.
