Who Should Be The Lakers New Head Coach?

Postby Jordan-esque on Fri Nov 09, 2012 11:19 am

(Pg. 34 is when the surprise/shock happened)

@WojYahooNBA

As Lakers ownership has been considering firing of Brown, Mike D'Antoni has been a prominent name discussed as replacement, sources tell Y!

@KBergCBS

While it isn't clear whether the Lakers have contacted their former coach yet, it is widely known Jackson, 67, is healthy, ready to go and interested.

Please no d'Antoni please. He is the mirror image of Mike Brown, offense only, no defense. Mike was overly defense (playing MWP at #2 just because of size etc...)

No. He's better than Brown, which isn't saying much, and thats about as far as it goes.

As long as we would have Bickerstaff and Chuck helm the defense he'd be alright. I'd prefer Sloan, Jackson, and Macmillan though.

I think in order for the Lakers to be corrected towards the Finals and for everyone to work and be on the same page and the media to talk about them and them to be feared like they were expected to be......you need Sloan or Phil as coach.

Everyone has sat here for the past 2 months claiming their biggest problem with Brown was that he couldn't coach an offense to save his life. People aid that he wasn't playing the right rotations. People cried that Nash needs the ball in his hands to do his thing... So it sounds like D'Antoni is your guy.

He knows Nash better than anyone. he's coached him to his 2 MVP's, he's turned guys like Amare/Barbosa/Q Rich/Diaw/etc into all star and highly touted players. He would come right in and be able to turn this into the best offense without much time at all.

How can people say Bickerstaff or Jordan are the better options? They wanted exactly what Brown wanted. D'Antoni is an offensive genius and that's proven. With Dwight/Kobe/Metta/Hill we have guys who can play very good D. The PHC teams had no players willing to commit to D. We do. Let MDA do his thing and we'll be lighting teams up with O and by playoff time our 3 time DPOY will help create a monster defensive team

PJ would be great. Sloan would be too. Phil would never come in mid season (or even 5 games in). Sloan probably would but it'd take a minute to get comfortable with him. MDA would come in with instant rapport and make us a juggernaut. Maybe he'd even bring McMillin as a lead assitant since they have experience with team USA.

Sloan or Jackson please ... MacMillan doesn't seem too bad either.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

Please, please, please no D'Anphony. He's just as bad as Brown, a guy that racked up a lot of wins with a great player running the show but could never get all the way there. His offense can look great, but he doesn't know what defense is, he's constantly screaming at refs looking like he's going to have a stroke, he lacks composure and I think he commands the same level of respect as Brown does. Do not want this guy, it would be a lateral move at best. Hell I'd rather take a chance on an unproven Brian Shaw than this guy.

Knee replacement surgery expected to keep Mike D'Antoni unable to coach until late December, league source tells Y! Sports.
