He's more fit for a small market.
He did coach the Clippers so he's dealt with the media in LA and Detroit isn't small by any means or NY ... but I understand your point. I think at least he would be better than MDA. At the end of the day I couldn't care less about the media, it's more about winning. He can do that and has proven that over and over again.
It could be that college and other things may have mellowed him out. You should read some of the most recent articles about him. He sounds so different ... so grateful for the opportunity SMU gave him. I think that is a far cry from where he was several years ago. Coaching college may have also helped him relate to the young player.
As far as Kobe ... he respects greatness and I think would welcome a disciplined approach. Plus, Brown is a proven winner, which is all that Kobe cares about.
I'm sure it won't happen, but for a young team I think Brown would be great.
