Fisher may come as an assistant coach I would assume. Kobe would LOVE that.

Rambis+Fisher and some of Phil's old crew? Hamblin/Cleamons? :man1:

This is probably the most likely scenario.

Yeah.. If Chi is stupid enough to let him hit the market I hope we throw Phil money at Thibs.. He'll be the only elite coach left after Duncan & Pop retire. You might aswell groom Rambis if you can't get Thibs.

No to Rambis.....

Yes to Thibodeau.

Thibs just signed a four year extension last year with the Bulls; he's not going anywhere anytime soon...he's a pipe dream. Would I want him? No doubt. He's just not available.

Right now, Stan Van Gundy tops my list; then Lionel Hollins.

Really? I don't know that I'd take Karl, Hollins, or Sloan at this point.

I'd take them over Mike. I'm more partial to Hollins. I think he was pretty solid in Memphis and was great developing that team to what it is now.

Any one of those guys would be a major upgrade over Antoni.

Of the people likely to be available, Hollins would be a very good choice, IMO. B. Scott is awful and like someone noted, tends to alienate his players after a season or so. The Van Gundys don't do anything for me, although I tolerate Stav more than Jeff. I think Stan would become quite a favorite among the local press corps. He's good with the quip. But his voice -- my God -- that would wear the troops out by about the 10th game in.

Whoever comes in has be multi-dimensional, i.e., not an offensive or defensive guru, but sometimes who understands all aspects of the game. I think Lionel Hollins is a well-balanced coach whom his players tend to respect. I don't think he's "Hollywood," and he might not want to deal with the usual laker hysteria. But he strikes me as someone who is even-keel;ed and can deal with the highs and lows of any NBA season.

Any coach that wouldn't be afraid to bench the trash on our team. I'm talking about Pau.

realistically i'd want kurt rambis with fisher as an AC. after him i'd say stan van gundy or lionel hollins

if i had to choose one coach period, i'd say tom thibodeau

I'd love to give Steve Nash an opportunity, It looks as if his playing days are winding down and I believe that he'd be an excellent prospect.

I would bring in fresh blood NBA wise....

someone who garners instant respect around the basketball world

I would pay him as much as it takes to convince him

Can't stand the school he coaches now, and it's all jealousy, which is one of those intangible why he would fit great here

A coach that could counter and cancel out the huge handicap we now have at the very top of the organization when thinking about courting FAs...that's right Jimmy boy, I'm talking about YOU

his name

Coach K.

He's said multiple times he would not come......... but everyone has their price :man1:

As freeagents Hollins, SVG, JVG (dunno if he wanna coach)
Popovic gonna retire when Duncan retires
Can't wina ring with a run and gun so no to Karl
Cuban will never let Carlise go and they just signed a new contract
Vogel has a good core in Pacers so can't see him leaving
Thibodeau is interesting because at past conflict between bulls front office and phil landed us phil and right now there is huge conflict between bulls front office and thibs. Dunno when it blow up but hope we will there to take advantage.

Btw i don't think we will see a euro coach at nba anytime soon but i would like to take a chance on Obradovic. That guy is Phil Jackson of Europe.

No offense to Coach K, but the guy is 66 years old (2 years younger than Phil), and he's never coached an NBA game in his life. Sure, he's coached Team USA, but that's not the same as coaching an NBA team that's not chock full of superstars.

I didn't see anyone defending Pringles, so it appears most people think he is not our long term solution. :jam2:

The Van G brothers would be an interesting option, but I wonder if there are enough cameras for the both of them.

Rambis is not a NBA head coach material. His stint in Minny was really bad. He shoved the triangle down the throat of a team that didn't have the right personnel.

The obsession of hiring an ex Laker needs to end. We all like guys like Scott, Fisher, and Rambis but they have no business running an NBA team let alone the freakin' Lakers.

I think Fisher might/probaby would if he wants to go that route. But yeah he would still have to pay his dues as an assistant somewhere and the Lakers likely wouldn't pull a Jason Kidd with him fresh off the court.

Messina is really good coach too. Messina is 4 time Euroleague Champion but Obradovic is 8 time Euroleague Champion. Messina won it with 2 different teams while Obradovic win it with 4 different teams. Also Obradovic won 3 of that championships at his first years in 3 different teams. Basicly Obradovic means instant succes.

I wouldn't mind Krzysewski. But the name is to hard to type. :man3:

I used to like Larry Brown for the work he did in Detroit. Byron Scott and George Karl would interest me. I know Phil Jackson is not an option, but if he were he would be my first choice.

I can't say that we have any reason to believe that. He was regarded as a great leader in the locker room, understands the different roles that are needed on a basketball team and has shown the ability to manage superstar personalities.

I know he got some heat as NBAPA Pres, but I don't think that carries over or diminishes his potential as a head coach.
