That shipped has sailed for me I think. I loved the idea of Adelman coming in right after Phil's last season because of the similarity to the triangle and his ability to use bigs. I thought he was absolutely the perfect fit and the right personality to work with our veteran squad at that time. I thought Kobe, Ron, Gasol, Bynum would have really worked well with Adelman on both sides of the court. The hiring of Brown was just a total blunder.
But now? I just don't have a clue as to what kind of team we're going to have next year and going into the future. I don't know the direction we're going or the philosophy. We don't have a clue as to what Kobe is capable of either, post-injury. I think it's just a big question mark all around.
I usually think of putting the pieces of the team together as the first part of the equation. Then you try to get a coach who can bring the best out of those pieces.
Since we're missing the first part it's too hard for me to imagine who I would want as a coach. Maybe someone we don't even know about yet. I'd need to see what kind of team we're going to have next year or thereafter.
As much as I dislike D' Antoni, I don't think there's any reason to fire him this season. I would love it if he's gone in the summer though. The direction he's going with the small ball is just a crap shoot to me. I'd like to see something that utilizes the players at their natural positions and just makes more basketball sense than going small and shooting threes all game hoping to outscore the opponent, while not playing D.
