Huh, I thought it was because he sucked and couldn't even make layups, let alone a 3 last season.
I should get an assist for that. It's an intentional pass to oneself, so it's an assist. That way people can't say all I do is shoot.

prob said mike brown bc he didn't really utilize him as the clips are and not consistent minutes. started him then benched him then didn't play him then did etc. he's doing great for the clips which sucks to see but it's no ones fault but our own for letting him go

He would have been a good fit in the D'antoni system.. At the time it really seemed like Ebanks deserved the chance though.

I liked Barnes. I know he had injury issues, but the effort was always there. Willing defender too. Very good rebounder for his size.

Mike Brown did a lot of damage to this team. More ways than most people know from running 4 hour practices and putting our veterans for the full game, and mismanaged our bench to the point that it affected their game. Inconsistent rotations and inconsistent minutes, playing players in unnatural positions. It is hard to get into a groove when you have no idea what your minutes and roles should be. Matt Barnes was a contributor. He is much better than the players we currently have on the bench. Plus he defends and he is tough. He took less money to play for the Lakers.

Posters were blaming EVERYTHING on Mike Brown ( sure he was terrible , but you couldn't blame him for every single problem) , now there are already some posters blaming MDA and who keep repeating our team would be so much better with Phil ... they will never admit this team is just not that good ...

Barnes the Clipper hasn't changed .. outstanding rebounder and cutter , poor three points shooter and proned to commit stupid fouls .. who will choke in the playoffs once again

Barnes can be a good player. Hustle player, scrappy, decent defense, can make some open shots.

Hes a role player, hes going to miss shots, what do you guys expect out of someone who is the 8th-10th option?

I thought he was borderline to return due to his playoff fading the past 2 seasons (granted, they were largely due to injuries), but then his run-in with the law this offseason clinched it that he wouldn't return. Am I remembering that wrong?
Every time you want to unload on CL about how terrible our Ownership/Front Office is, I want you to step back, take a deep breath and read THIS.

Play his role, and knock down what little shot attempts he has at a good clip?

He's as inconsisten as it gets.

he's not inconsistent at all... he is pretty consistent actually. Just because you're not good in one area of the game doesn't make you inconsistent.

He's a below average shooter who at times makes a few in a row. But everything on the court isn't about shooting the ball. Yet brown put him a role where that was how he was featured. That's after benching, starting, benching him.

He consistently hustled, did the dirty work, grabbed offensive boards, moved well off the ball, mixed it up with other teams best players by getting under their skin, and ran the floor.

As I said at the time and I'll say now, letting Barnes go was a a mistake Every team needs that guy off the bench. And the way he is playing, we could definitely use him. He's got familiarity with Nash, Dwight, MDA and Kobe.

My sig still applies.

That's a fantastic sentence. :man10:

He's a below average shooter

Nah, more like consistently below average.

When your game doesn't show up for 2 years of playoffs regardless of reason then it's time to cut the cord.

what are you talking bout, we only had Brown for 1 of Pau playoff failure, the other year was under Phil.

when he wasnt injured he played very well for us. unfortunately he had bad luck of injuries before the playoffs and during so that hurt us...but he was very consistent with us when 100%. hes not a good 3 point shooter but he can knock it down adn always rebounded and slashed....missing many layups but in energy on both ends could change a game. i think we should have kept him since we didnt for ebanks' sake and were not even playing him....and now barnes is doing great for the clips as he could have been doing under dantoni and with Nash again

He's consistently inconsistent, you have to give em that. :man11:

glad to be rid of this fake thug, never embraced him. plays no defense, makes no shots, is a pouting baby who gets the occasional rebound, layup, and technical foul

he had no business wearing the colors.

Wish he were still here to add some testosterone to this roster. Pau's estrogen is infecting the team, sans Kobe.
