WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

Kobe MWP and Dwight need to ALL be on the same page defensively...this team wont win if they're not preaching defense and backing it up on the court for 48mins. It's sad when our bench players are out playing, out hustling, out rebounding, out-everything our starters. Kobe's 30+ points wont be topped by our bench players...but their energy and effort on D def were.

I really hope this road trip will get the team to unite together on D and O and really get something going. play with urgency, with heart, with energy, and with purpose. I hope that chemistry can improve and Nash maybe talk to the team and help in that category. This road trip really has to be a "back against the wall" stretch bc before they know it it'll be playoff time and we wont be ready or even a part of it.

If this team finished 22-19 at home, they are not making the playoffs. Mike Brown coached like garbage this year but I didnt think he did a bad job last year, until the last 2 weeks. I think Mike Brown never had a chance to coach this team and I think Mike D is getting a taste of it as well. It starts with the top. Kobe's defensive effort is setting the tone for this team. And I am not talking about the trying to conserve energy defense either. I am talking about the constant gambling and the 4 on 5's because Kobe is too busy (bleep) about not getting a foul call. Someone needs to tell him to cut that crap off and start focusing on being a leader again. His leadership has been utter garbage this first quarter of the season.

Kobe's leadership is at question right now. He's playing for himself imo. Being the captain and leader of the team he needs to set the tone if guys aren't doing their job...even if its him who is also slacking. He needs to pick up his D and stop focusing on scoring by himself. 30+ points and no D and were 1-8. With Nash out and now Pau he has to step up his leadership and SHOW guys what they all have to bring every day on D...not just score 30+ on O and say he did his job.

I want him metta and dwight to destroy on D this roadtrip and get guys to buy in and do the same and bring 100% effort and energy from tip off to the end

Yeah they all said there is just no energy. And many of the players said it is not an Xs and Os issue.

It would be better if it was an Xs and Os issue.

I'm mad and glad the reason we lost was bc of effort and energy. Mad bc its unacceptable for a prof athlete. Glad bc its easily correctable...sucks that its been consistently an issue, but it can be changed easily overnight.

Yeah... I'm not sure what to fix really... They just are slow & unmotivated on defense.. It's pretty pathetic.

Actually, I think Xs and Os would be the easier problem to correct.

If the players haven't shown a consistent effort and energy through nearly 30 games now, then there is almost nothing helping them. If they can't even summon enough energy and effort to play .500 ball with the players on this squad, then they might as well lay down now and go draft an athletic wing player.

Nothing is surprised. When Kobe is given green light in offense, he simply ignores everything, including winning.

I still remembered last year playoffs vs Thunders, Kobe took 33 shots without an assist.

This is simple...absolutely no D. Probably the wrong offense too. Having a team jack up 3's isn't the best idea with an older team either. Why did they pick D'antoni again??? Right Steve Nash.

Really if you are looking at Kobe or the offense you are looking in the wrong place...defense/rebounds pretty much sums up the game. Even when Kobe passed the ball they gave it back to him....c'mon you really think that is the issue? Team hired a no D coach and surprise no D. Worst team is too old to play this way anyways. Is it more than a coincidence that the Lakers this year resemble D'antoni's Knicks from last year?

I hope people will start to realize that you can't just put good defenders on the court together and get good defense.

I realized today what we're missing. A leader. Kobe is a manager, but not a leader. There is a huge difference and we need that badly. Where is our Derek Fisher?

How come Metta only played 21 mins. Especially when we needed D. He could have guarded Milsap. Same weight and only 1 inch taller...but Metta has quick hands and is really strong.

I just think there's an effort problem as well as a defensive minded coach. Kept Meeks and Kobe in together bc of the offense...but we needed D and MWP was on the bench (after shooting really well tonight too)

Like someone mentioned no IDENTITY whatsoever. At this point im not even sure Nash can fix all this (and i was 100% that he can and will).

Even though he lost weight he didn't get much quicker.. He wouldn't have helped much with us getting outran all night.
