WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

dwight needs to get going early and its up to nash and kobe to do it. when he does we most likely win. he cant have a 5 point quarter and a bit first half.

the offensive game plan is get dwight going early. force feed him. run pnr. run horns. run everything you got to get dwight going. everyone else (kobe nash) play defense hard. then once dwight gets going it'll open things up for kobe who will have an easier time on O.

the focus needs to be on getting off to good starts and ride that momentum on D. inorder to do that you need to have dwight engaged on O so he will be on D. Metta too imo. get them both going early as in immediately from the tip off and its a whole different game.

Then what is this team doing wrong? Is it a coincidence that Dwight tends to have better games when the opposition has weak bigs? (MIA being the exception).

To me, we still have a better chance of winning with Kobe as our #1. If we could get a young player who can create a shot for himself and defend, and fill our roster out with other young, 2-way pieces, I think we do better.

You are correct about Dwight and ORL, but it's not working here. He can't create his own shot. We need a trade for a 2-way, young, shot-creating player.

I think now I am starting to get disappointed with the Lakers, but I see what's going wrong. This team I think just set high expectations in the beginning of the season, and those expectations got killed with the way things with Mike Brown. I really do believe Mike Brown killed a lot of the joy and expectations they had. Mike D'Antoni is now trying to work with a pretty defeated attitude and what not so now things are staying mediocre. NOW, the Lakers aren't playing well. That's fine, and honestly I hope they can turn things around because this is ridiculous. Also I hope the Lakers can pitch this team to a lot of players this coming off season. The Lakers keep getting beat by the same people, players like Lowry, Landry Fields, Galanari, Harden, and these support people. The Lakers need to go get some guys like this. The Lakers have a good team, it's just they need more. They need some young guys with this team. I think Dwight will stay and I think Pau can stay. The fact that Kobe has to play like this shows that he tries to get the team going when the going gets tough, maybe it's not helpful but he knows his shots will go in where everyone else just takes a "maybe" shot and when you are down, those shots don't help.

I hope they can close out the season decently, I don't care if they don't make the playoffs, I wish they would but the Lakers have only missed the playoffs once in the last odd number of years, so missing them this year, that can happen, and I will live with it.

Along with reevaluating their recruiting of players so people similar to Fields and Harden can be on our team, they need to get a good staff and I hope Nate McMillan can be talked into being a defensive coach. That would be helpful.

Final thing I would hope the Lakers could do is get a US wide XM channel for all their games, home and away, because listening to opposing teams' commentating during away games especially when they are losing adds more depression to the situation and really sucks any kind of enjoyment out of watching the game. Maybe the NBA can just do that for all 30 teams with XM, that'd be great.

That's it. That's what I think and how I feel. Yes, I know most of you are happy this is failing and that is fine, not like the Heat succeeded the first time and everyone REALLY wanted them to fail, so I'll live with this. Kobe has 3 years on him still, so he can still get 1 more ring, it's not impossible. In fact I honestly believe they'll win it next year, regardless of what I say right now because they have learned after one season and can only get better from this season. Plus, a team like this....has to win one before Kobe and Nash call it quits. They just have to. So whatever. Guess we just wait and see.

I just woke up, but we lost to the Raptors? Weren't we supposed to turn things around? Lol.

I wished this game would have started later. This practically ruined my afternoon. Screw this team...

Just disgusting basketball. Just a bunch of guys passing the ball around and chucking with really no purpose. No energy. Needless to say, no defense. Kobe just awful. Only a trade can save this team. With this roster right now, we don't get to .500.

Yes, we've aged players in Nash, Bryant, MWP, Gasol n Jamison. But we also have super star Howard in his prime and serviceable young players in Hill, Clark, Meeks n Morris. We shouldn't have been in 17-23, really.

Once, O'neal n Bryant were alslo surrounded by aged players like AC green, Grant, Rice, Harper, Shaw etc and we won multiple championships. We treasure the aged players n their experience. But we blame our loses to aged players. In fact, they are all in good condition: Bryant n MWP are having their best year in recent years. Nash n Jamison were quit serviceable last season n see no big change in their physical condition this year. Yes, we changed our head coach n sufferred by injuries. But with this roster, I really don't accept a 17-23 result. Even Bryant play with Parker, Brown, Walton as starters can make playoff...

I'm just trying to prove a point that Meeks deserves playing time bc he can play the same d as Morris and do more on the offense than Morris and Duhon combined.

those minutes are a waste and having them out there essentially makes it 3 on 5 on BOTH ends when it could be even with Meeks

We need to rebuild around D12 with some players who are young, athletic, talented, and, most of all, hungry.

nothing new to complain about. same stuff 40 games in. if you're on the trade market right now, you need to be thinking about next year.

Tweaks to add depth should have been done weeks ago. I still put all of this on Jim Buss -- first for sticking it to Phil by not really considering him and hiring MDA, and then for not allowing Mitch to add depth -- like West, Pietrus, etc.

Anyway. this season is over. For those still hanging on to hope. when they are 13 games below .500 at the Allstar break, you will jump off the wagon too.

At least my 9ers are in the Super Bowl.

But playing West over Duhon and Morris. And Pietrus over Ebanks and Morris -- are big upgrades. We lost a bunch of games that were close, and when teams went on huge runs against our D-League line up of Sacre, Ebanks, Morris, Duhon and Clark. YES - a few vets would have made differences in those runs and a few (3-5) more wins for us.
