WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

terrible game from the start. knew it would be messy just with all the turnovers and just playing sloppy. easily bc of the b2b bc of the amount of energy they give to just win a game. beasely of course goes off to triple his average and makes some ridic circus shot to ice the game after almost turning it over.

just a bad game and now dwight will prob be out for a couple games. great. it was the SUNS! how do you lose. dragic gortat scola didnt beat us at all....all beasley. he scored like all there points in the 4th no joke

That was depressing, but their system was bound to have flaws. They'll be ok. Win some, lose some.

I'm not happy about this, but they'll make the playoffs. The lakers are better now than they were a month ago. I'll be ok with this lose. If they lose Friday to the Wolves, I'll be more worried.

How often do teams win Back to Back games?

Nah we deserved to win tonight. They weren't as good as the last few games but everything was still clicking in a similar manner. That meltdown in the 4th was a direct result of Dwight getting injured. Without him our defense is tissue paper and they lost all their composure.

Season was basically over going into this game, but it's official now. We are not making the playoffs. Doesn't matter what epiphanies or revelations this team has at this point, the number one thing they could not afford to do was give up L's to crap teams, that they had a 13 point lead and blew it only further solidifies that this team does not have what it takes.

Yes, there are a litany of excuses, some of them are completely valid and unfortunate(injuries mostly) but even when things are rolling this team still finds ways to lose basketball games. They have defensive lapses that are just downright insulting to watch, and they have done it enough times in enough ways by now that there really is no point in assuming things will turn around or change course.

Nightmare of a season, possible candidate for one of the worst in franchise history, and I think I'm officially done with it. I'll still check out a game now and again, but this team can't respect themselves or the game, there's nothing worth supporting in that.

it feels like 80% of the time, that chucker was MWP tonight. kneejerk reaction after the loss: get rid of pau and mwp for something good.

no one was hitting shots in the end and metta was getting beat by beasley everytime. clark should have been put on him...much better choice imo.

and of course dwight gets injured on the first game of the trip. of course! by shannon brown of all people

I was hoping we were done losing to bad teams. WRONG! Chances of making the playoffs are just about dead now. So sad we can't even beat the Suns on the road.

We did lose to Memphis who was at the bottom of the barrel in 2002. Hasn't Miami lost to the Raptors or someone this year?

I'm mad and disappointed, don't get me wrong, I just think, it the Lakers can win those 3 in a row with the system they are playing, I have way more confidence that they can turn things around. The system has weaknesses, but every system does, also Dwight getting hurt like that deflated our chemistry.

I think Dwight will be ok, and I think we'll be ok. If you guys think, this means we have no chance to the playoffs, so be it, but I don't.

Yeah but that's the thing, a team that straight up breaks down because one of their players got hurt and allows like a 21-4 run (or something) to one of the worst teams in the league does not deserve to win IMO.
It was a mental breakdown. Our D wasn't terrible just because we were missing Dwight.. Would've Dwight been on Beasley and stopping his pull-up Js? Would've Dwight closed out on Dudley? on Scola? Not his assignments..
It was WEAK play from our team. On the other end it was just as terrible. MWP flat out sucked, Kobe looked out of sync, Nash wasn't a real threat, nor was Gasol.. The team just bowed down and let the Suns take the game from them

EDIT: We had two 9 turnover quarters. That just baffles me. One of them was the 4th, trying to close the game out. We gave them confidence and rythm, and flat out lost ours.

It doesn't pay to get too emtionally invested in this Lakers team. Once Dwight went out, our interior defense suffers because Pau can't guard the paint to save his life. Addtionally, 20 TO's doesn't help. We just fell apart at the end. We revert back to old habits. The team is just looks mentally defeated on the road right now.

This was the game to set the tone for the trip. Win this game and get off to a positive start for the teams mental psyche. Now, this roadtrip can go either way; it be horribly bad or we can attempt to salvage the remaining 6 games.

Got the game spoiled for me ... sounds like we were in control of the game with a double-digit lead then Dwight got hurt and we collapsed?

Any reason for concern?

Yeah, the fact that the team is still weak-minded, can't get a W on the road to save it's life, and still hasn't shown the ability to play consistent quality basketball in extended periods of time.

1st Q and 4th Q we had 9 turnovers each! On the fourth we shot like 20% or something. Just terrible.
Dwight getting hurt might've been the first domino but still in no way it's an excuse of what came afterwords. Just a total collapse

Even when we were up 13...i just knew we'd screw this up. Had a bad feeling about tonight. This team is a mirage. It's a collection of mismatched parts, including the head coach.

Eh. I am so over this team. I'll still watch but won't become emotionally involved like I normally do. It'll masochistic if I do.

The lead was actually already being chipped away at and had gotten down to like 5 or so I believe when Dwight went down. We just started missing shots, Beasley kept scoring, we lost control fully when Dwight went out. Pau couldn't guard the rim, we turned the ball over, Kobe missed a game tying layup with like 20 seconds left, everything that could go wrong, went wrong. Cause for concern, yes, same road woes showed up, role players reverted with no home crowd, Kobe kept facilitating but shots weren't going down. If Dwight is out any length of time our defense is gone pretty much.

I was probably going to stop watching so many games this season, but they changed my mind with the 3 game winning streak thinking they had turned it around. But if Dwight is out I won't be able to bring myself to watch anymore games because I know it will be pain and misery every single night.

i say this all the time, but i can't disconnect myself emotionally...it's the lakers. i can, however, lower my expectations.

Everyone went cold at the same time and we gave them confidence in the early 4th with some horrible possessions. When Howard went down the defense went down too.

I was in a box toward the other end of the floor when he re-injured his shoulder and you could hear him yell when it happened.

The whole game lacked flow and energy from the beginning.
