Hard not to feel discouraged to some extent...I knew the Clippers game was an upset (at least to some degree) but the degree to which we over-achieved was totally lost on me...Honestly, right now it FEELS like we won't win 20 games...Well, it FELT like we'd win 50-55 last night, so who is to say that it isn't somewhere in the middle.

Oh, right...Wesley Johnson is to say that, because he sucks. I am feeling down and depressed about this game right now, kind of feeling like the predictions of 12th might have been dead on. Even WITH Kobe, assuming that tonight's game was relatively realistic for the average game per player, this team doesn't look capable of winning 30 right now. To be continued I guess...
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.

Eh, we're not as good as we looked Tuesday, not as bad as we looked tonight. It will be an up and down season, but I still think we will win more than we lose. Yesterday everything went right in the 4th, tonight was the opposite but for the entire game. I also don't expect our young bench to be as good on the road as they are at home.

Okay, do not judge any road teams' performance on opening night on someone else's floor. Emotions, energy and a season's hopes are overflowing for home teams in game #1. Cleveland knocks off the Nets, 76ers beat the Heat, and yes, Lakers beat the Clips, Howard has a career night, etc., etc. These high emotional games are not good barometers of teams, either for the road or home squads.

Let's get over this "hoopla" period and get a better evaluation once the season settles in a bit.

No Nash, No Kobe... no veteran leadership besides Pau. Young bench on a back to back, no surprise we lost.

As a I said in the game thread , role players perform better at home than on the road ...

Expect a lot blow out losses on the road against good to top teams with this lack of D .

Young and Johnson are the weakest links after 2 games ... Shawne can't find open shots too

Why is nobody playing defense? Why can't Pau get about 20 touches and back down his man? I know he's older but he was very good at doing this.. we won championships with him scoring..

Farmar bricked some shots but he put effort in on defense at least.

Pau wanted no part of "backing down" Bogut. He tried to take it to the hoop a few times but was pretty easily handled by Bogut.

He's no longer athletic enough to get get around and separate from good post defenders. That much was evident last night.

When Meeks was the highlight of last night, that's telling of how the night went.

No ball movement, no communication on defense, I sensed a little bit of overconfidence followed by a feeling of "rug just pulled from under" once GS started making shots and they were throwing up bricks.

A lot of teams would have lost on a b2b against two of the top west teams. A new young squard especially. Take it as a learning experience boys, not everything is going to come easy.

It's only one game even the Heat lost on the road, we can play much better & honestly nobody expected us to go 3-0 vs the Clippers/Warriors/Spurs so if we win vs the Spurs this Friday I would be more than happy with that 2-1 star & then having the Hawks in Staples on Sunday as well...

Horrible, horrible, yesterday. I think GS is one heck of a team, though. Coming into their home opener in their debut, I knew they would be pumped. I think GS is coming out of the west this year, if they are healthy, IMO. Aside from that, our offense sputtered, too many turnovers, late defensive rotations, we just looked bad. Wesley playing the 4 needs to stop; Henry needs to develop a mid-range game, and our defense needs to be improved.

This isn't just about the GSW game, but our starting unit is just downright terrible. From the preseason and these two regular season games they have no energy or any real advantage over the teams they play.

- Blake and Meeks cannot play together. Both are spot up shooters that have no PG skills. Blake needs to stop dribbling around in circles around the basket. Neither of these guys create for others and we are sticking the ball with these two to be the primary ball handlers on offense which leads to crappy possessions.

- Nick Young cannot play with Blake and Meeks. He's not passing it, so when he has the ball Blake and Meeks become worthless. He needs to play with a PG or Kobe that will take the ball from him and set him up for looks and quick moves so that he will be effective and the offense doesn't struggle.

- Farmar, Henry, Hill need to play together. They are, our best young combo of players that can play efficiently on both ends of the court. Move them into the starting lineup, so we don't come out looking like dog crap every game. They are young, hungry, want to win and you know can keep up with the teams we play.

- Move Nash to the bench. Even though he's old and can't move, he's still a better option than having Blake/Meeks on the court together because he can still pass and set spot up shooters up with easy shots. It will also prevent our starting lineup from being eaten alive and he can go against opposing teams backups, which should allow him to be more effective. This will also facilitate getting the ball out of Young's hands.

- Move Johnson back to the 3 and Williams to the backup PF. The Johnson at the 4 experiment is just no good because he's already at a disadvantage because he's not a great player to begin with. Not going to help when he has to guard David Lee, ZBO, etc. Williams is better suited to come off the bench because his game is very hit or miss. His defense is there, but much like Earl Clark, when his offense isn't, he tends to disappear. Backup role, spacing the floor for a Kaman/Nash pick and roll is better suited for him.

Farmar / Nash / Blake
Henry / Young / Blake or Meeks
Kobe / Johnson
Hill / Williams
Pau / Kaman

Starting lineup isn't suddenly old and unathletic as hell and the bench still has scoring with Young/Kaman, shooters with Williams/Nash and is athletic to cover for Nash on the defensive end.

Right now we have to live with it because Kobe is out, but the concept is still the same, play the people that mesh well and keep people that don't off the court with each other.

Pau is a true liability on offense. It's nice to see his 12ft. jumper falling again, but when he has the ball in his hands, I'm just bracing for him to get stripped, get blocked or to blow an easy one under the basket.

Yeah, having these 3 in together is a trap. Young isn't exactly a prototypical 3, Meeks is very limited on offense, and a lot of our offense depends on Blake initiating. If Pau is in with them and we can't get him working in the post, even worse.

I do however think you're a bit harsh on Blake's play making abilities. By no means is he a starter, or even a great backup. But he can make plays. Far far far better than Meeks. To compare their play making abilities is like comparing the rebounding abilities of a 1 to a stretch 4.

Blake might not be great, but he can make his fair share of plays. Is that going to get us wins? Probably not. MDA should experiment with his lineups and figure out when/what role Blake can be most effective in. I still think he has a place on this team.

I've had enough of watching Steve Blake. 3 years of "expectations" that never were.

3 different systems, same garbage.
