WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

Lakers played well. Calls were one sided for the heat. Touch fouls for lebron and wade. Nash getting held like crazy no call??? Lebron rolls around the ground with posession of the basketball and gets up and starts dribbling no travel??? Kobe could have taken a few less hero shots, but the game was already decided by the refs. Everybody played well, nobody really sucked.

They certainly get away with a lot of pushing and shoving, Lebron's block against Clark for instance, he pushed off Clark's back. It's reminiscent of the Celtics '08 defense that was given the narrative of "it's tough and hardnosed" which was code for "they foul a lot and get away with it". The fact that touch fouls were being called for Lebron and Wade on the other end just makes it that much more annoying. The league needs to seriously decide what they are trying to do with fouling. There's this concept of "once defenders are set we're going to let them wrestle, but if someone is moving we're going to call a foul on the gust of air that hit their jersey". I think the game has morphed to protect and reward dive to the basket and-ones at the expense of back-to-the-basket postups. It's no great coincidence it's such a guard dominated era of NBA right now.

Could unravel that into a bit of a conspiracy theory(largely about the casual fan liking fast breaks and charging dunks more than good footwork), but whatever the reasons or motivations, it certainly doesn't do the Lakers any favors.

And thats my problem... The refs let them get away with what we couldn't. Call the game the same and its all good. How many phantom calls did they get? A TON. THose guys rotate quickly, they do talk and we didn't cut like we should have. All that being said, we were just as aggressive, moved much better and talked too yet we were getting called for the touch fouls.

Even non-touch fouls, like Gasol's "foul" on LeBron's layup midway through the 4th. Barely even grazed his jersey.

I watch a lot of Heat games and he gets at least one of those calls every game. It's perplexing. Calls when you really, reallyhave to try and find any semblance of contact. To the arguably most athletic guy in the league (in terms of a combination of speed, strength and leaping ability). There's no need to give him those calls.
"The first time I ever saw my uniform hanging in the locker I put it on right away, and it just felt like I was putting on golden armour. From that day forward, I just called it 'the golden armour', it just felt like there was something mystical and magical about it" - Kobe Bryant.

Lebron was unreal tonight. Just dominated for stretches. Hit some huge answer baskets. If he plays like this come playoff time, they will be a super tough out.

World of ifs....this is our solice everytime we lose, if this if that

Yeah that's why I laughed, IF all those things don't happen we could have won. How likely is it all those don't happen? It's not, we kinda have to be perfect to beat any good teams .

How 'bout that? Or is this the wrong forum for such a suggestion..? Probably.

Awe thats cute.... I'll continue to whine about the refs and you keep posting like the steller insightful poster that you are. I actually follow your post to get a better understanding of the game, the team and heck everything. Matter fact, I change my mind the officiating was perfect and the Lakers were just outclassed, outplayed, outgunned and really out of Miami's league. Thanks you rock. :jam2:

not saying Nash doesn't suck but you sir are box score watcher if you think Calderon would make this team better :man10: and this team makes avg. PG look good, good PG look great, and great PG look godlike. Perfect example, Blake, drops a triple double on us as a clipp with Fish guarding him, as a laker he hasn't even come close to do anything like that

Did anyone else get Robert Horry flashbacks, when Pau tapped out the ball to the 3, and kobe grabbed it and hit the shot?

Calderon has 5:1 assist to to ratio. its true i dont watch him play but i watch nash play and he sucks. He hasnt been making his shots, he is attempting ridiculous passes which lead to TO. We could have had a 10 point lead end of first quarter if nash hadnt turned over the ball 4 times in 5 mins

The problem with Nash is, he's gotta be really good offensively, getting everyone going and getting his own to overcome his HUGE defensive deficiencies. In PHX he was really really good. It helped that they had a PnR specialist in Amare and shooters surrounding Nash.

Here, we neither have a PnR and pick and pop guy nor shooters. It's not a good situation right now Lakerland.

We are burning Kobe out having to chase the OPP's best backcourt player night in and night out.

It was clear tonight that Nash was bothered by MIA's speed and quickness.

20 turnovers, 10 missed free throws and Miami's great defense and gameplan. Kobe and Nash couldn't get an inch of daylight out there and we had no answer for LeBron down the stretch.

Our defense had a few moments but couldn't sustain it. The 4th quarter became a layup drill and we again looked confused out there on our rotations.

thank you. i been saying pg is our biggest problem on this team along with pau. kobe said it post game 'i need some help offensively' who do you think that was for? nash. pau experiment should be over. trade him for athletes and youth. nash can't be a primetime player anymore with teams throwing athletes like this at us plus his attitude is not attack mode. and please stop with the calderon nonsense people i don't want another non american player on this team. the 2 weakest links are foreigners canada & spain.

those #'s are misleading, he doesn't create those easy shots for people, he just passes to a guy that keeps moving to get open. Nash could do the same on that Tor team but this team is full of star players who aren't gona move around for Nash to just pass too and they shoot. Just look at Tor complaint of the guy, doesn't penetrate, only affective running PnR and pounds the ball into the ground until his TEAMMATES get open for a easy pass/asst. Sure Nash seems to be only affective on PnR too but he does penetrate at times, wish he would do it more. Defensively Calderon wouldn't do anymore than what Nash is doing. Still I wasn't one of those who was jumping up and down the day we traded for Nash, you can't bank on a 38 yr old to be a key cog in your system, sure I was happy we got something but I just didn't feel Nash was gona be our savior and I didn't fall for the hype either that he was gona save Pau's career.

Finally watched the game since the new year. Lakers look a lot better since I last seen them. Lakers could have won it but as usual. There defense. Even tho its improved. There still ball watching and there help rotation sucks. Free throws. Too many missed. The 2 that Howard missed towards the end hurt alot. And Kobe just plain missing. If he had made a few more. Different ball game.

We basically get beaten by the same play three times down the stretch ...

Miami scored points 90, 92 and 94 by running a double screen for Allen (twice) and Wade
