WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

Hmm well if we're a really good team I agree we should go 11-3 over that stretch, but we've been way too inconsistent so far to think that will happen. I'll go with 9-5 but if it's any worse than that we're in big trouble.

But damn that's a scary thought. 30 games in and if we're still only marginally above .500...

January and February get tougher schedule wise ... We should have gone easily 21-9/20-10 after 30 games with this early friendly schedule ...we'll see how we do in December

my wmc...i got home drunk and i fall a sleep...this is second game i missed...first was vs dallas...
so both i missed were great wins and our two best games of the season...maybe i should miss them more...

Seeing the 3 by Howard and watching his FT shooting...he should be FAR better. When Shaq shot he had trouble keeping the ball straight due to his large hands (try shooing a tennis ball for example). Howard on the other hand is short, then long...but usually straight. I think Howard's issue is between his head...and to a lesser extent in his arms due to the alligator arm FTs he shoots. He should be a 60% + ft shooter easily.

My real WMC is that I fully expect the Lakers to be up and down...when they make their 3s they will run going away...when they miss their 3s...they will struggle...they will also struggle keeping leads.

time to put together a win streak with some consistent efforts. we're not likely to get a performance like that from jamison or meeks anytime soon, so hopefully the team can strike a balance. can't stand this floundering at .500 that we've been going through.

My only WMC about the game is defense. We allowed 47% shooting which is too high. We allowed some really easy layups there in the first half. Other than that.....

I hope so. If this team is for real, then we should be able to get a good winning streak going. The up and down play leads me to believe this team is one and done if we make it to the playoffs unless they can kick it up a notch.

As of right now we're just not that good. Hopefully that will change. We'll see.

Team makes too many dumb mistakes, they don't really play as a team, defense seems to be opt-in/if you feel like it, and whenever they go through shooting slumps they give up leads in a hurry(or straight lose games). They play as though they feel like they can make the next shot, like a gambling addict who believes they'll be 'due', but without the actual legwork to make it happen, they just keep coming up short. The most frustrating thing though is the sheer lack of consistency. They've had a couple of games go their way this season, but almost every other game has not and even if they've played alright/passable, they just can't seem to string together and cohesion as a team.

Mentally they seem weak. I question their 'heart'(i.e. are they even all trying to win? seems like some of them are just happy to be getting a pay check). They seem to straight up forfeit games at times and there has been a bad tendency to point fingers after losses.

Yeah, things aren't ideal right now. Pau is clearly suffering from the knees, we're missing the star point guard and his relief, and maybe Dwight isn't 100%, and Kobe can't dominate games like he used to, but great teams figure it out, or at least lose with grace when the chips are down. This Lakers team can't even make losses entertaining.

It's easy to rationalize why Mike Brown was a problem, but what we're seeing since D'antoni would seem to indicate that the bigger problem is more of a chemistry/locker-room/mindset issue, something that the team has to consciously come together on and make the commitment to be on the same page, because there really shouldn't be this type of performance this regularly for a team this talented on paper.
