WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

Btw

If we want 50 wins for the season (which would get us the 5th or 6th seed), we'll need to go 41-20 for the rest of the season. That's doable but hardly good enough as it means we'll play every single series without HCA.

If we want 55 wins, which would probably be adequate for one round of HCA, we'll need to go 46-15. Big reach

So basically this team has dug their own grave. If they expect to win a championship having to play essentially perfect basketball for the rest of the regular season and dominate in the playoffs without HCA...yeah I just don't see that happening.

With Nash out and now Pau he has to step up his leadership and SHOW guys what they all have to bring every day on D...not just score 30+ on O and say he did his job.

I want him metta and dwight to destroy on D this roadtrip and get guys to buy in and do the same and bring 100% effort and energy from tip off to the end

This post is right on the money, and I agree 100%. He needs to set the tone, especially on the defensive end and he's not doing that right now.

Bryant will do his thing regardless but what is different now is the lack of "glue" individuals in the locker room that we had in the past in Fisher and Odom. Heck, throw in Walton too. 24 is all about action...not words or coddling. Jamison is new and never had that role. Nash is out. D'Antoni is not Jackson in keeping track of the squad's emotional pulse and maintaining it an even keel. Then again...no one is.
Nor can the Lakers get blamed for always making the right decisions over decades. At some point its not just luck or "gamble", its superior management and superior ownership.

As long as we avoid the 8th or 7th seed and have to face OKC or SAS in the first round. All hell would break lose if we are bounced in the first round.

She's actually talking about the 02-03 Lakers which got booted in the 2nd round. It's kind of ridiculous that they can't fact check such simple statements.

is she hot though? must explain why she still has a job?

Not one bit lol

She actually just corrected herself now after the break, I guess she's checking CL :man10:

And dumba*** Mark Willard was trying to pass it off like it was no big deal even though saying the Payton-Malone Lakers started off poorly when they actually didn't is a pretty egregious error.

Definitely. It basically sounds like an entire wasted segment of not knowing what the hell they are talking about.

it's crazy that Portland can shoot 0-20 from 3 and still win with limiting turnovers to 7 and playing good D. they were playing against the rapters but still that's crazy. EVERYONE but LA shot TERRIBLE. Defense and taking care of the ball and playing with effort won them that game.

We are the laughing stock of the league right now ... was watching the end of SAS -Houston and the (terrible) Rocket announcers team was talking about the West contenders and went like " OKC , SAS is very deep ... and don't forget Memphis playing excellent ball right now " then Drexler asked " what about the Lakers ?" and they all started laughing hard

Not quite, what we've experienced so far in this early season is what the Clippers have been for 99% of their franchise history.

As pathetic as it gets. We are so bad we give opposing players a lot of confidence and rythm after just a few possessions.
This team is cursed, I wouldn't bet any money on them making the playoffs.

I would argue the Smush/Kwame teams was disheartening but they were supposed to suck. This team still has Kobe & Howard in it... and for them to be getting pounded this bad... well, yeah, I agree with flea. This is disheartening.

as i said in the game thread: at this point, i'm less upset with the team and more upset with general circumstance. i mean, of course kyrie irving comes back like he didn't miss a beat for a home game against la. of course anderson varejao becomes a sharpshooter for said game. i mean, how else could things possibly unfold this year? what, did you expect the cavs to play like the bottom feeder they are? no, no. cj miles must actually make his wildly ill-advised shots. alonzo gee must temporarily master the stepback jumper. the universe has decreed it.

also, my specific wmc: down 4 with 3 minutes left, lakers try to turn the tables and go hack-a-thompson...and the refs willfully ignore it to the tune of an open varjeao layup. that's sort of the season in a nutshell.

There's almost nothing to NOT complain about. This season is turning into a Laker fan nightmare. Coming in on paper we looked like one of the most talented Laker teams ever, but in reality, wow, we just aren't good.

How can anyone ever compare Dwight Howard to Shaq? Do you think the Shaq that we had on the Lakers would've let some unknown scrub Zeller actually effect his game, while getting baskets of his own? There's no way.
