WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

I'm not getting too excited about this victory. It's nice to get a win; but we're still 7 games under .500 and OKC is coming to town on Sunday. This team has been too inconsistent for me to get so emotionally invested only to be dissapointed.

On top of that, our longest winning streak has been 5 games. We are still 4 back of getting to the PO's which I would consider a miracle at this point.

While I agree, this played a big part.. Along with Utah playing flat & our jumpers falling.. We still would have lost if we used D'antoni's system.. He's making the necessary adjustments to fit the personnel.. It can only get better as the team builds confidence & chemistry.

Yup the guys need to make sure Durant & Westbrook take tough jumpers and make sure they rotate properly to help Dwight and Pau on dribble penetration. They also need to watch the TOs because that team will kill us if we give away possessions. All in all, if the Lakers come out and play hard for 48 minutes like this game, they can beat anyone, and a win against OKC could be set the tone for the large win streak us fans were hoping for.

this team is so inconsistent. was this utah win a fools gold???? will pau accept this bench role and be a 2nd team force and make the bench become one of the best in the league? If so we may need to roll the dice and not trade pau but try and deal ebanks, duhon ect... for a quality backup pg that another team is trying to dump. not sure who but if pau settles into this role we only need a speed reliable pg.

Not sure that running Kobe at point is the right move. It works well, but he will wear down fast this way. Trading for a pg that will help Nash at point, the way Kobe did tonight, will work wonders.

Kobe's too old to be Mr. Triple Double, the way LeBron is used.

i agree. man if we could get Brooks from sac that would make us deadly. it's hard to say this for me because i have wanted Pau gone for awhile but if he can be the player off the bench at the 5 we need all we need is a backup pg with speed and athleticism like a brooks.

Well I watched some games drunk this year on fridays (when I come home over here the game usually is about to start) and it always seemed a bit like a bad dream. Got some exams coming up and thankfully they won - without alcohol I wouldn't have got over another loss tonight

A lot of assists were Kobe in the post. It just seemed they ran the offense through Kobe more than previous games and the results were positive. Lately I have seen large stretches where Kobe is just hanging around the perimeter which really is helping the other team. Kobe, Pau & Dwight got lots of touches in the post.

I only got to hear the first half on the radio, but this is definitely an encouraging win. It's not too late to turn it around if they really want it. They just have an extremely long way to go. I agree with other posters: we've seen a few of these great blow out wins before. They are awesome but seem to be followed with a string of losses. We've got OKC and a crazy road trip ahead - let's see what they can do moving forward.

Fortunately for us -- if our guys are truly dedicated -- that road trip includes NOH, PHX, MIN, DET and the 'Cats. Oh yeah, and the Celtics, but they suck.

Those are some horrible teams right there.

^We can win all of those games. 5-1 would be great; 4-2 decent. It's just hard to speculate because you never know what team you're getting night in & night out.

If we make a run or not is really up to if the team wants it bad enough to play as an actually team every game for 48 minutes.

Can we talk about the system that was played against Utah? Was that the triangle? Lots of post-ups for Kobe and For Pau. First time I saw Pau on the block in quite some time. Maybe Kobe decided to talk to Mike on this one?

It looks like the triangle doesnt it, i wouldnt be surprised if phil is orchestrating this new "hybrid triangle" behind the scene. :) or kobe, nash, may pringles came up with it. i just hope that whoever is implementing it will be able to tweak it as teams find ways to counter it.

The last 2 games by kobe have been more impressive than any other game this year.
