WMC 12/13: Mercy kill. (0-4)

Well, they could have just watched the video for 10 seconds and called it. Or, they could have just called it Heat ball and negated the replay altogether. I just don't believe every poor call in every nationally televised game is a rig job. I know that's not what you're saying, but I'm just not convinced it was any different than any other horrific call I've seen in "big stage" type games.

At any rate, we both agree it was a poor call, no argument there. But the officiating is my only WMC of the game, otherwise, I thought it was one of our better games this year.

I completely agree about the game being poorly officiated, but I wouldn't say it was completely in the Knicks' favor. The refs screwed up a couple of calls that helped us too.. There were some glaring no-calls, like Hill's foul on Chandler on that alley-oop attempt, or Kobe grabbing Melo in the last few seconds (though that was tougher to see).
The refs just sucked all around IMO. Just poor officiating. It hurt us in some sequences (MWP fouling out with BS calls for example) but it hurt them in others.

On that play with Kobe and Melo.... The ref said Kobe hit the ball from beneath (which he did), however, basic physics says if it was Kobe that hit the ball the ball would of went up instead of to the right. Melo was the only one swinging his hands from left to right. The main issue of that is that the ref that made the call couldn't have seen Kobe hit the ball from where he was standing. Had the ref made the call for the Lakers but wished to view it I'd understand but making the call for NY was horrible. Following that with making the call in favor afterwards was horrific.

Heat ball? You meant Lakers or Knicks? Your typo ruined your post because I'm not sure what direction you were going...?

The HEAT always get calls, even in games they're not playing in.

Really just the officiating, it was an entertaining game and the Lakers are clearly showing signs of improvement, strong win that you love to have notched. But some of those calls, particularly near the end, were absurd.

and to be fair, I saw a few calls that went our way that Knicks fans are likely furious about, but that there were so many total for both teams just kind of sucks,.

That was the most fun I've had watching a Lakers game this season I think.

Good to see we won. Will watch it when I get home

Hope we start blowing some teams out, get the minutes down on the starters

interesting is that nobody (ESPN or NBA) has some comment about that replay call ... not a word :D

The officiating was bad on both sides so I don't think there was any conspiracy or rigging going on, just ref incompetence, which affects every team, not just us.

Overall, I thought we gave a great effort out there. My only complaint is Kobe's minutes, he was ran the entire second half again. Mike 2 needs to get his minutes down one way or another.

I change my mind on the minutes thing, I just remembered Brown is not our coach anymore he used to have LONG 3-4 hour practices where they scrimmage quite a bit, watch lots of videos, it was exhausting...D'Antoni's practices are short and he just walks through the plays. So in that way guys are being preserved to play big mins in the game (though its not ideal), also there are stretches where Kobe and Nash even though they're not playing they're not involved in plays so theyre just basically racking up mins without exerting themselves...like the 1st 6 mins of the 2nd half last night when the Knicks went up 9, you didnt even know Kobe was playing he wasn't taking any shots at all. The only one Im truly worried about when it comes to mins is MWP, he plays both sides of the ball hard. We need to get a backup SF who can shoot

Outiside of Metta, who was only on the bench for 2 minutes, we had no bench production. Jodie struggled and MDA played the starters heavy minutes. We need to manage those minutes a bit better. Also, I think we were 5-21 from three? I might be mistaken. We're in the top 6 this year; I guess some nights you just don't have it.

WMC: complaining about Jalen Rose?!? I like Rose. And Webber.

I'd be ecstatic if we beat DEN. Won't be too p'od if our winning streak ends tonight. B2B away, not a good recipe for this team.

Nuggets looked really bad last night, theyre slumping a little bit and they arrived in Denver AFTER we did so they're gonna be more weary and tired than us. Just eek out a win tonight and you put yourself in the top 8 in the playoff picture

They were blown out so starters didn't play heavy minutes. We played a tough one and starters played heavy minutes. DEN is at home after a bad loss. They'll be even more motivated to beat us. Third they are alot more acclimated to play in that thin air than we are.

While both teams are in a b2b. DEN clearly has the advantage. It'll be a tough one to win. Hope we do it.
