In fact, they got swept by the Spurs. The Suns at least pushed them to 6 games, and a lot of people believed at the time that the Suns would have won the series if it weren't for the extremely controversial suspensions.
We can argue this ad nauseam. The fact remains that the two Mikes, one offensive and the other defensive (though both are offensive when you get right down to it
), are interchangeable/peas in a pod. They are very comparable.
I think everyone on this site can agree that, all small details aside, both were the wrong choice as the next long term coaching option for the Lakers, and we need to move on from BOTH ASAP, if we want to rebuild a contender.
The End is nigh. Time for a total Cut and Shuffle. Kobe contract was a mistake...time to avoid making more. The future is here, whether we want it to be or not. An era is over, but for the death rattle, and it's time for the cycle to begin anew. Growth and change are scary and painful, but alas...nothing worth achieving comes easily.
