Its sad that a 36 year old Duncan outplayed and still better than a 32 years old Pau Gasol. :man5:

Artest is a bigger issue than Pau. This bum is taking 10 FGA at 38 FG% and nearly 6 threes a game at a mediocre 32.7% . Tonight he goes 4-14 :man10:

He should be getting spot up 3s and maybe a couple from run outs or post ups.

Pau is the scape goat like he always is. The win would have been nice but this early in the regular season it's basically meaningless. We played a ton better against one of the best teams in the league. We're improving and that's what matters right now.

pretty much, but you know the over-reactors on this board will blame everything on pau. apparently he's in the 10th percentile of players the way some people act on here.

Yep, guess I'm overreacting on his piss poor defense, inconsistent effort, and sub 40% shooting from the floor. This is a guy who shot 60% at one point...

his effort has been fine, i haven't seen him or any of the guys not caring out there.

he's also being pushed further out on the floor, starting last year with the emergence of bynum and now with dwight. there's not enough room and he's being asked to float outside, probably more than he should but that's where he's spending more time now.

And there it is, the "being pushed out on the floor" argument. The thing is, he is being pushed out, but not by the "emergence of Bynum" or Dwight, he's been out there on the floor with Hill and he still takes turnaround fadeaways from 15 feet after being bullied off the block.

It seems he's okay with letting guys take him out of position these days. And then he just watches Tony Parker rebound his own miss, but hey, you're fine with that effort I suppose. :freak2:

MWP is getting a ton of wide open 3s and he's not hitting them....

I think that we need to seriously consider giving Jamison or Meeks more playing time alongside Kobe and Nash (when he gets back)....cuz that wide open 3 will be there all night....I think Meeks and MWP need to switch roles. Meeks is going in there with the bench and he's not nearly as effective...same with jamison. They both need more minutes...they are the guys that we brought in to space the floor.

Poor execution down the stretch once again. My WMC is mainly a few things...

1) We do not get Dwight involved at all. Why is this so difficult? We had issues getting the bigs involved last year and same thing again this year.

2) Like I said above, just bad execution down the stretch. Poor D by Kobe on Green, not a good shot having MWP take a critical shot (though, he was wide open, I'd rather have Jamison taking that shot personally), Dwight getting the offensive foul, and the worst of all, was the poor drawn up play at the end. Not Pau's fault though IMO. Kobe wasn't very open, a pass there was way too dangerous and he was open and took it.

All in all, I have to say this is the first loss in a long, LONG time I don't feel too bad about. We had our 3rd string PG starting, some weird lineups, and we almost pulled it off against a very, VERY good team.

I think the fact that he's in the best shape he's been in years is getting to his head, making him think he's as good as he was in 2004. If he would stop trying to shoot off the dribble all the time, he'd be a lot better off.

Gotta do something with both of them, IMO...bench or trade.

Mitch will probably wait and see what D'Antoni can do with Pau and Metta..and if there is no noticeable improvement, I'm sure that Magic Wand will be put to use.

Artest needs to cut down on the shot attempts, but having a coach *should* get that in order.

Dwight needs more than 9 FGA's.

I'm pulling for the guy but Meeks was beyond HORRIBLE tonight.

Not too much to complain about considering we're coach-less right now.

3 games w/out Brown and 3 games with very solid defense. Maybe we needed an offensive coach after all....? :man12:

We basically lost because we didnt do the little things right

- We had 17 turnovers, they had 8 so they had 16 more shots

- So many freaking times we could've finish off a defensive possession with a defensive rebound, I can remember at least 4 times off the top of my head where the ball went out of bounds

- 14 out of 22 from the free throw line

Even when Nash comes back, we need to get better at these things. They're the difference between winning/losing playoff games

Ok I'm mad about this loss, mainly because it would have been so sweet to make those pansy Spurms fans butthurt about losing to a shorthanded coachless Lakers. They're still acting as if they just won the championship. We'll see them get blown out by 30 come the next game.

Not really much to complain about quite honestly. The Spurs are arguably the best team in the league right now and we nearly beat them without Steve Nash and a head coach. If anything it's encouraging how much we've improved. Once the Lakers get Nash back and develop some chemistry they're gonna be scary good.

Dwight's 9 FG is misleading. If he didnt turnover the ball so much he would've had 13-14 attempts. Which is about what he averaged last year I think.

What is this no head coach nonsense, Bernie did a terrific job in three games...breaks (or bricks) of the game killed us, I hope Bickerstaff is retained in any capacity...

Well it's not like he's had time to install a new offense or set plays or anything. The players themselves said that they basically play pickup games.

Pau and Artest seem to have opposite problem one is not aggressive enough, the other is TOO aggressive :man10:

Good thing is, I only see 2 of the next 11 wins as possible losses. If the lakers beat the teams they're supposed to. And those 2 teams are memphis, and denver. Which are beatable. pheonix(w), houston(w), brooklyn(L?), sac(W), memphis(L), dallas(w), indiana(w), denver(L) orlando(W), houston(W), new orleans(W). We may beat denver. But lose to some other team, besides the griz , at least once during that stretch. Maybe Indiana or brooklyn, because of dwill. I see us getting on a streak, if we FOCUS. 7-1 at best. 7-3 at worst.

Metta has more shot attempts than D12 in 4 of the 8 games ... I know FTs/Tos have to be taken into consideration but still it should not happen

Did you expect Gasol to outplay Duncan?

Duncan has always been better than Pau Gasol. Gasol has been inconsistent for almost 2 years now. Meanwhile, Duncan is the big man version of Kobe, with his more diminished athletic ability. He does all the dirty work in the system, and it's as if he picks and chooses when to play offense/defense. He's putting up double-doubles & 2+ blks solely on technique, and he's still competitive as hell.
