Un-freakin-real. Howard needs to shoot them underhanded and Crawford needs to retire or die.

Really where else is he gonna go? It boggles mind that people keep fearing Howard is gonna leave when there is really nowhere for him to go that's a better place for him than the Lakers.

My WMC: Don't they usually add 0.2 seconds on the clock when there's 0.1 seconds left in the quarter or game?

I've seen it happen a few times many years ago, and they explain that it's because you can't get a shot off in 0.1 seconds. Have they stopped doing that this year? :man3:

We didn't have trouble feeding Shaq. He averaged like 20 FGA as a Laker. 20 field goals plus all them free throws! The triangle was perfect for a guy like Shaq.

We had trouble feeding Bynum because he wasn't featured in the triangle. Then Phil left. When we finally actually FEATURED Bynum in the offense, it was the Mike Brown show. And that's where you're right on the money. We could not properly feed Bynum. So sometimes Bynum took it upon himself. Sometimes, he'd get so frustrated at not ever getting the ball he'd shoot 3s!

I just don't get why it is so hard for this team to get Dwight one lob per quarter.

Not to sound silly, but the ball was doing the 'in & out' so many times last night, they should probably check that ball.

But this brings up another point.

Missed free throws hurt more than just a lack of a point. Right now, they're ruining our offense entirely.

Ah...I'm going to get angry now, lol.

We can't run D'Antoni's system with Dwight shooting free throws like this. Once we get to running and scoring on teams, they'll just foul us. And we'll have no offense. We won't control the pace. There won't be a flow to the game.

Dwight Howard's free throws are the most important thing the team needs to work on at this point. There will not be any type of consistent showtime for as long as he's shooting like this.

I agree that FT shooting is a huge thing for this team. We should maybe have a thread just for it, to discuss it's progress (or lack thereof)

BTW I do believe bad FT shooting is contagious. Phil Jackson talked about it in his book (it started with Shaq) and I think he simplified it to something like "when Shaq's missing a bunch of FTs, then the others feel extra pressure to make their own just to balance it out, and the results aren't nearly as good" or something.
I can totally see that being a factor

If you watched last nights game tons of MWP, Morris and Jamison shots went In and Out. They were taking shots within the flow of the offense. They were takin the shots that helped us beat DAL, PHX and HOU... but soo many missed FTs, turnovers and these missed shots made it appeared really ugly. Some of the problems from last year reared its ugly head. Kobe was the only playmaker on the floor and we couldn't hit any 3s to alleviate the bigs inside

This start of the season is really a nightmare ... I feel like we're missing another leader next to Kobe to make the others players try and compete harder ... this guy sure ain't Dwight .. could it be Nash ?

I have a hard time seeing us playing better than 50 % winning ball as long as Steve is out too :bang:

Kobe missed 16 shots. No, he wasn't "hot", he was just taking a lot of shots. Dwight took 10 shots. There is something very wrong with that. Oh I know, "Kobe was the only one doing anything"...maybe bc he always has the damn ball in his hands. We have the best C in the league...how about we start getting him 15-20 shots per game?

Dwight was out with foul trouble in 1st half so he played only 34 total minutes in the game, also Indiana fouled him a lot, hence the 12 free throw attempts and he also got aggressively doubled frequently...wouldnt you when the rest of the Laker team outside of Kobe is 1/17 from 3 point land?

Indiana game we actually played within the offense, nobody was out of control jacking up wild shots, Kobe's turnovers, missed FTs and the shots that rattled in and out made it appear like a really really bad game, it just came down to missed shots, we got the looks we usually get in the last week, we just missed them. Free throws as well

We have had a few games this season where we dominated and looked unbeatable and then followed it up by losing a game we should have won. Hopefully they've broken though that now and can start winning a bunch of games. It's frustrating

^^ Very true. You can't tell what to expect. Tonight was a pleasant surprise though. Who would have thought that Jamison would go off for 33 points and Meeks would shoot 7/8 three pointers? After they both laid eggs the game before this, too. Wow. What a difference a game makes. And who knew Dwight had a three pointer in him? :man10:
