The Rock wrote:Kinda crazy how the league has changed, speed, athleticism and 3 point shooting wins out, you would think the team with the 3 of the top 10 post players in the league would do well. But speed kills. D'Antoni envisioned this and the rest of the league is running away with it. Teams like Houston, Denver, etc have no inside presence whatsoever its all out in the perimeter and the opportunities created from that
Blame the Michaels, Kobes, Vince Carters, Allen Iversons.
They're the players these current generation players grew up watching, idolizing. Where Shaq, Olajuwon, Robinson, Duncan were primarily the more effective players, they weren't the most exciting players to most, unless you have a real passion for the game outside dunks and "dimes".
It's also the reason there are true post playing centers. Shaq was dominant in the post, but he wasn't skilled. 90% of his post play was just raw power, straight monster dunks. 7' feet tall? All these big guys want to do now is throw it down. DeAndre Jordan, Dwight, McGee. Only true post center left is Marc Gasol.
