But speed kills. D'Antoni envisioned this and the rest of the league is running away with it. Teams like Houston, Denver, etc have no inside presence whatsoever its all out in the perimeter and the opportunities created from that

Blame the Michaels, Kobes, Vince Carters, Allen Iversons.

They're the players these current generation players grew up watching, idolizing. Where Shaq, Olajuwon, Robinson, Duncan were primarily the more effective players, they weren't the most exciting players to most, unless you have a real passion for the game outside dunks and "dimes".

It's also the reason there are true post playing centers. Shaq was dominant in the post, but he wasn't skilled. 90% of his post play was just raw power, straight monster dunks. 7' feet tall? All these big guys want to do now is throw it down. DeAndre Jordan, Dwight, McGee. Only true post center left is Marc Gasol.

i dont get why he always gets brought up as a defensive coach. just because he coached the defense for the olympic team doesnt make him good at it. his teams have all been average at best on defense. but then again any form of defense is better than what the team pretends to do at the moment.

this

macmillan's teams have never been among the top ranked defensive teams but at this point, bad defense is better than no defense

^^ All true. Nate's no defensive guru. But I would much prefer McMillan to D' Antoni. I don't want him as an assistant. I want him as a replacement if anything. I don't think we need more cooks out there.

True... But I chalk it up to the team not knowing "how to win" right now. I really didn't mind him attacking the rim and doing what he has done. I don't mind the misses because we were showing that we can still be the damn Lakers.

I want to see what type of energy we play with against OKC.

guys played with heart you could tell. Kobe blew so many defensive assignments and have upon on some plays. refs did COMPLETELY sucked and ruined us but in the end Kobe can't do that. we have to run a play and that's not what Dantoni drew up. Nash should have shot that or run a quick play bc Kobe iso wasn't working today and shouldn't have gone to that to tie game

MWP should have passed on that fast break

If they lose on Friday I think a 6 game losing streak would absolutely crush them and they won't be able to rebound from that

They didn't rotate to Stephen Jackson. He killed us. Matter of fact, the Spurs were 12/25 from the three. Nevertheless, we were still in the game; Metta's decision to drive for a layup when he had a wide open layup killed us. We could have closed it to one. Either way, we're depleted, not giving up, but not playing defensive consistently enough, yet.

I know "showing heart" doesn't sound like much, but when you have probably four future HoFers on your team and you're sucking, it's not lack of talent that's the culprit. So I'm pretty upbeat after this game.

MWP was nice on offense today but those possesion towards the end was really moronic, from the bad fast brake to the fading 3pt shot, dude got some low bball IQ at times and 3 of those 4 3's by Jackson was all on Peace as well.

This.

I don't understand all the hate from everyone. I remember nearly the entire board yelling these were going to be blowout losses. This team is showing it has some heart and I too like that.

Some members on this very page were calling it over mid-way through the 3rd! Hmm... I guess in a way they were right though. But we had a chance. Against a good team. With contributions from other players.

Ron's last layup attempt ugh wish he passed it off. Nash played terrific defense in the 4th why couldn't he do it the other 3 Qs?

Pau has got to go, we have MWP/Hill/Clark now who can do what he does he becomes expendable now, just get a couple of PG/SG and SG/SF types who can shoot and defend. We good. I still have some faith in this team.

OMG yeah. We had like a 3 on 1 and we blew it. Not sure if it even drew iron. LOL. He should have passed it. MWP Hero Ball is not a good thing either! He went a little nuts there at the end.

Same story for 2-plus seasons - poor execution on offense down the stretch and failure of Kobe to close or win a game. Soooooooo predictable. Kobe will take a contested jumper. Yet he hasn't hit a buzzer beater in years and has missed more than 20 shots these past two seasons to win games in the final seconds.

We don't move the ball or put pressure on teams in these situations.

Ron is a bonehead and tried his own hero ball and blew it.

This is beyond frustrating. And guys blowing opportunities by being stupid (Ron) makes it worse.

Yeah, it must be embarrassing to come here for a ring (well, to be closer to his family, too), and then play .400 ball mid-way through the season. Dwight, Jamison, Meeks, this list goes on...

How can any Laker show their face in public and not get haggled about all this losing?
