While it may be true that Brown hurt us getting Barnes I can't say it "effed" us because Matt could never stay healthy when the playoffs came. I was one of Matts biggest supporters but it didn't help he couldn't stay healthy. I am with everyone else that Mike Brown did more harm to the players with his absolute control over everything.
For what it's worth, the Lakers also clinched the Pacific Division, an achievement Bryant dismissed by saying "We don't hang divisions." No, only the big NBA championship banners are considered wall-worthy for the Lakers.

My comment wasn't really about Barnes, rather free agency and the potential players we could of had in general.

Grant wouldn't have came.. You didn't see his big spiel about Nash joining the Lakers & how he could never do that? Sessions didn't like the pressure that came with being expected to win a title every season. I think Glock would still be on the roster. I'm sure D'antoni would have pushed for Pietrus or someone. Roster wouldn't be that different though.

No real WMC tonight. Boys played great on both ends. It didn't really seem like Portland came to play which was a shame but we needed a game like this IMO.

There's room for Jamison to be in the rotation, it would help us in the long run, 10-12 minutes for him is 100% possible.

i didn't see 99% of the 4th, but why in the blowout win did jamison not even get in for a few minutes? was he not on the active roster? i saw earl clark on the floor in the last couple seconds.

Only WMC is that Kobe didn't extend his 30+ streak, he had a few good looks in the third quarter that could have done it, but oh well. Other than that it was a solid win with the Lakers looking like a properly talented basketball team.

There's no good reason. He should have been in for Pau in the 4th, he could have used the rest as well with his recent foot issues. As for why Jamison didn't come in during garbage time, I assumed in the gameday thread that it would have been insulting to put him in then.

Edit: but now that I see Phil XI's post I see that he may have indeed been inactive, as 12 players did play, but none of us in gameday seemed to notice

Pretty much. It wouldn't surprise me if that's ALSO part of the reason he was canned. The idea that we lost Sessions AND Barnes for next to no reason at all has a lot to do with the coach at the time...

My WMC is which team will show up next game.... That was our first blow out win of the season I believe and we have been following good games with not so good ones.... Will we be able to break the cycle and start to put together concerted efforts in a row?

I agree except for the bolded; we blew out Dallas in similar fashion on the road earlier in the season. The Denver game on November 30th also comes to mind; although, I might be mistaken with that game. Nevertheless, you're right about putting out more effort every game and developing more of a rhythm...

Sessions had much less to do with Brown and more to do with "getting an opportunity to start". :man10:

I'm sure he's content with his life, but in 30 years he'll look back on this opportunity and regret it.

Actually, there was a bad call made I think at the end of the half when they pushed Pau under the basket and didn't get whistled for an over and back.

Interestingly, Kobe got the same number of FTs in the Portland game as he did in the Denver game.

Except that he took quite a few more shots at Denver, and he only played 3 quarters vs. Portland.

True, but we played at home AND the team was a lot more aggressive from the very start of the game. So I figure that kind of offsets that.

Playing sluggishly on the road isn't a great strategy if the whistle is what you want.

This is true.... I guess I was thinking of a blow out in the sense that we rested the starters for the 4th quarter.... In those other "blow outs" Kobe logged his usual minute total in all but one of them.

True. I remember the one against Detroit lol as soon as the lead was lower than 25 or 20 Brown was already putting Kobe and Dwight in. He was just desesperate at that point :man10:

They keep waiting until the end of the game to wake up and actually try out there. Sad.

WE CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE TO SUB .500 TEAMS AT HOME. We're not making the playoffs like that.

Need more urgency.
