like what he said at the end about the Lakers organization. If Dwight doesn't see that he's an idiot.

I agree, and Kobe is smart about this. When the Lakers and Kobe do meet with Dwight or Kobe talks to him over the phone the Lakers shouldn't have to really make a pitch. If Dwight needs to be talked into staying with the Lakers then he shouldn't really be here in the first place.

I'm glad to see this from our Leader. He's thinking the same way Mitch and Company are.

I get that point, but that was with Jerry. I would always have trusted the Lakers over Houston to know how to put a winning team out there year after year, but now with Jerry gone I'm not so sure. If Mitch stays around, it Jeanie, and maybe even Phil, have a lot of input, maybe even as much as Jim, I'd feel a lot better going forward. Just having Mitch and Jeanie around, and Phil on our side though, STILL gives me greater faith long term than Houston, a team that hasn't won since '95.

Yet as I watched him Monday, I could not help think how little it mattered and how right he is. He is not fading into the shadows. He does not know how to go out that way.[.]

Oh man. That makes me... nervous. Excited, but nervous. He's got a LONG way to go. I hope he doesn't rush it.

He has doctors and trainers helping him along the way, so I'm sure shooting some free throws isn't anything to worry about. Plus Kobe wouldn't risk rushing the healing process anyways as he can't afford to miss extended time if he wants play in Nov/Dec.

I believe you're right, but that doesn't mean I can't be nervous. I know how much he's desperate to come back and how much his return means to this franchise and this upcoming season... We'll see.

Kind of a funny coincidence for an NBA player to run into another one at a theme park on the same day. That said, what's Kobe doing at Six Flags, all that walking on his acl, not putting up jumpers in the gym. :man2:

He's just shooting from a stand still. It's not like he's shooting a free throw and running to get his own rebound. Just stand there and shoot.

Kobe himself said that he's not running at all yet.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 18m
I asked @kobebryant how long he'll play: "I feel pretty damn confident I can be at a high level for at least another three years."

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 17m
Kobe: "I think the injury has something to do with it. It really increased the drive. And probably (SAS) getting so close to winning No. 5.

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 17m
Still with rings on his mind, @kobebryant on maybe playing 3 more years: "I want to make sure I push the ring count out a little further."

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 17m
Kobe on SAS: "A testament to what skill can do. To what us old guys can do if you play together, if you play with one mind and one purpose."

Mike Trudell ‏@LakersReporter 16m
The Spurs being that close to a title was "inspirational" to Kobe: "The tide can change fairly quickly and we'll be looking at a parade."

Go get Dwight, step one.

Ride his big butt to the playoffs where you'll be healed up. Then go nuts.

Video of Kobe's Recent talk with Mike Trudell about his Legacy (Part III)

http://www.nba.com/lakers/video/2013/06/30/132906KobeOnLegacy1mov-2526087

- I love how honest Kobe was about how bad some NBA players are in today's game with their fundamentals.
- Also great to hear that he can see himself playing 3 more years at an elite level. As Kobe put it the achilles injury might have been a silver lining. That and the fact that the Spurs almost won the title.

A definite watch for all Lakers fans.

Like I mentioned after Kobe's interview saying he wanted to play 3 or 4 more years, this injury could be a blessing in disguise. It's shown Kobe what life after basketball will be like, sitting back watching other guys win he still feels he can beat, and he's clearly not ready for that yet.

^ Perhaps, but we still don't know how Kobe will be playing when he returns. That's not too say I don't think he can play at a high level (I think he can), it's just a possibility we have to account for.
