Me, too, obviously! :man10:

And I know I'm contributing myself to it, but I hope he doesn't get too hyped out like Earl Clark did and then falls off the map. That's why I'm interested in moving him to the starting lineup when Kobe returns so he can start becoming more than just a "scorer" and "bench spark" guy. I want to see him develop skills alongside the big boys because that's what I think will keep him humble and make him improve more than just running and gunning off the bench. That's what Nick Young is good for. Sorry for running this idea into the ground last night. It's just nice to get excited about something in a year when we look like we're either trying to just squeeze into the playoffs and be happy to be there or possibly not even make it. Henry's a little bit of light and a hope for the future. Nice to see.

Basically, I knew nothing about his game or his potential until this pre-season started. So he's a very pleasant surprise.

I would start him at the SF spot once Kobe returns. I think his game is a better mix with Kobe than Nick's. Nick is like Kobe-lite on offense with 3s and mid range J's. X is shooting 3s and driving the lane whenever he sees an opening. That is a perfect complement to Kobe's game rather than a duplication like with Nick. Keep Nick as the instant O off the bench when we sit Kobe. Plus, Nick and Jordan have that personal chemistry together and IMO should be playing together leading the bench mob.

I would not have an issue with him starting over Young when Kobe is back either. On the one hand he plays great with the 2nd unit, he's good on a fast break, and good on defense. On the other hand, he also seems to do just fine in the halfcourt offense, he is hitting his spot up jumpers, and he can still create and drive to the hoop in the halfcourt, and the starting unit NEEDS some defense.

Him, Farmar and Hill have GREAT chemistry, I dont care if those 3 come off the bench or start together, they need to be in the floor at the same time

Main question imo is :

Will the starting 5 with Henry be this much better that it can overcome the fact the bench being worse with Young ?

I wish I could express this better ...

I think Young is a better shooter than Henry, contrary to what we saw yesterday. So with Kobe back, it'll give him an option to pass to and create, rather than Henry who I think is better with the ball in his hands.

With Kobe back in the lineup, that will even the disparity we're seeing with the bench vs Starters, and perhaps we might look even stronger with the Bench Mob 2.0 coming after Kobe tears it up.

The biggest surprise of the year so far for us.. I think the fact that we expected nothing from the guy is making us overrate him a bit.. He hasn't had multiple 17 PPG seasons like Young has, let's not get ahead of ourselves.. Strong candidate to be this season's Earl Clark.

If he can do just half of what he did yesterday he is still an absolute steal for us. Love the way he attacks the basket, and gets his shot without getting away from the offense.

I don't think anyone expects him to be the next Kobe, but he's looking to be the next Ariza, which we weren't expecting.

I don't know about the Ariza comparison, unless you're referring to the "where the hell did you come from" factor.

Unexpected impact on the team. That's it. I just didn't feel like explaining, but I'm not saying they have the same skills or anything

I watched the first preseason game with my sister and I remember telling her:Watch Henry, this kid is good, I hope he makes it on the team. By the end of the game I looked at her and said :Bench mob 2.0. I think the young guys on the bench are going to be a huge help and Henry is at least for now a big part of that. I like him and our bench- who would have thought going into last nights game that the bench would kill the Clippers :jam2: Ah it's good to be a Lakers fan!

^^ That's how I'm seeing it, too, TIME. In addition, like Revgen, MC, and Weezy said, Henry is a better defender and we really need that in the starting lineup. Young won't be playing much D. Let him light it up with his friend Jordan with the second unit.

Remember that if Xavier Henry stayed at Kansas for four years, he’d be a rookie this season. He’s only 22.

We've got a nice little young athletic core of Farmar, Nick, JHill, and X for the cost of 3 Vet Min deals and Derek Fisher. Mitch + Wand = :freak2:

He was a guy who probably needed 2-3 years in college. He was a top 3 recruit who looked lost in college and never really regained any confidence jumping to the NBA

There is a reason he was so highly recruited and then highly drafted

6-6 guys with a combination of size and speed like him aren't in large supply

The talent is there, always has been. It's starting to show, the lakers just need to make sure they do EVERYTHING in their power to cultivate it

Otherwise it'd be a big waste. We actually have a young prospect with a high ceiling

I don't know why Xavier was so passive last night. GS did do a good job crowding the paint and forcing us to take jumpers, but that means we weren't moving the ball enough.

I felt there were a couple of no calls when he actually attacked the basket, so perhaps that's what led him to be less aggressive.
