Of all of the young guys this is the one who's got the best chance of still developing into something IMHO. He's got all the tools and some confidence. Henry has a base of fundamentals to his game that the others don't.

+1. He's the guy they need to develop, IMO, too. I like the kid a lot. Smart, athletic, good size for his position, can defend, score and drive and kick. Young is what he is. Meeks has gotten a lot more consistent in his shooting but he's still not much of a defender and he's undersized.

I'd actually love to see X at the 2 and Johnson at the 3 along with the starters for some time until Kobe comes back. Defensively that would be the strongest starting lineup. And we've seen X with the starters - he fits in well.

To me he's being way underutilized off the bench with Young in at the same time. They are too redundant in their roles. Get him time with the starters and that will help him develop.

Incredible dunk, but not much since then.
However, the season is still young.

Xavier plays way off ball, posts up in the corner and waits for the ball to swing to him for the shot. It's not a bad idea, but Meeks and Young are a lot more confident and aggressive in going to a spot they can receive the ball up on top if they don't get it in the corner, and once they get the ball, they read the defense faster and attack.

X just needs to learn to be more confident and develop a mid-range pull up shot. I'm pretty confident he will learn these skills once Kobe is back, and Kobe makes it known that this is his biggest weakness in his game. After that, aggression will come with confidence.

^^^^ He's actually decent from midrange this season ... 11/26 ain't bad ... 14/44 in the paint is terrible as is his FT shooting : 24/47 :hurl:

^He doesn't take those midrange shots off the dribble drive though.

When he starts to drive, opponents know he's going to the basket, which accounts for his poor paint production. His drives are too predictable when he almost never stops for the pull up jumper.

There's no excuse for his freethrows though

He's great at drawing fouls when he gets to the rim but it's not the difference maker it should be for a couple reasons.. He seems like he doesn't even attempt to get and1's.. His focus is 100% drawing the foul then he just flips the ball at the rim any way he can.. He could be a huge difference maker for us if he starts finishing more of those shots & of course, works on his FT's. Hate to say it but with Young scoring so well off the bench, Meeks hot start, & the impact Wes' athleticism has when he's out there, it seems X might be the odd man out when 24 returns.. I'd hate to see him buried on the bench but if it gives him more motivation to work on finishing through contact & hitting FT's he'll fight his way back.

He definitely and without question should be the odd man out when Kobe gets back. Nothing against Henry but his inconsistency and FT woes should make him be on the bench.

Yep, I mean what's the point of drawing fouls when you can't even hit the FTs.

Getting to the basket with ease tonight, hitting his outside shots and also hitting his free throws. If he can keep that up he will be a force off the bench.

Great game.. He finished better through contact & hit his FT's.. Aslong as he does that he's going to be a huge asset to us.

i've been pleasantly surprised with his play this season. unpleasantly surprised at his 50% FT shooting though.

i like his aggressive approach and attack of the basket. we don't have many guys that do that

Haha yep I'm gonna have to start calling that out before every game if this is the result. :man9:

Looks like he's working on all the right things but it's just 1 game.. If he continues finishing more shots after the contact & keeps his FT% on the rise, he'll really help to offset us not having a 2nd star in terms of getting enough calls to keep the opposing team in foul trouble.

Henry can't fill up the stats if d'antoni favors players that are on "fire" from game to game. There's only one ball in the game so unless he shoots the ball he can't score or pass. I don't understand where the inconsistency is coming from. If he goes 10-10 and then 0-10 then next game then sure but if he's 7-12 one game and 1-2 next game it's on the coach and not him.

Also for those that might argue he needs to be aggressive to get the ball... That's utter nonesense because he is aggressive when he gets the ball but he passes it at times to play within the system. He can't be aggressive if the offense doesn't go through him.

i really can't complain about this kid's play. he was a camp invite that earned a spot and has shown flashes of potential. at the price and structure of this team, he's more than worst the investment.

He's usually a lot better at home. We're going to need improved play from him to beat Portland on Sunday
