X looked a little rusty but it's still great to see him back....

I like X a lot...he's the mold we have to look for in young players...injuries concern me with him, though; I pray he can stay healthy.

15, 5 and 3 in 19 minutes. He didn't give up either. I hope we keep this guy.

He was a spark of life in one of the worst games I've had the displeasure to watch. I'm with you Roo - been high on this guy all year long. Hope he returns.

He's definitely rusty, but he has passion for the game. He's my favorite new guy this year.

Love his fire. His game doesn't look changed at all from his injury.

Bring him back. He can be a really solid bench player for us.

INJURY UPDATE: Lakers guard Xavier Henry, who injured his left wrist in last night’s game against the Washington Wizards, had an MRI on the wrist today. Results of the MRI showed that Henry has a torn ligament in the wrist. He will be examined by a hand specialist on Monday and an estimate on his return will be given at that time.

On a good team his minutes would be extremely limited.. He had 2 games this month where he played over 30 minutes.. He played 32 against the Spurs, 23 against the Wiz last night.. Averaged 25.4 MPG in December before getting hurt.. The fact is he shouldn't be playing this much to begin with & if we're able to get a solid core of starters he won't ever see those type of minutes except when a starter is injured.. Hopefully his injuries help us keep him for the minimum & we bring in another starting quality wing to go next to Kobe, I think we'll see X get injured much less if that happens.

This is not good news. X is athletic and talented, but he gets injured easily. Will this affect us potentially signing him this summer?

I love this guy, but I don't think we can sign a guy that cannot stay on the floor, especially with our injury history the last 2 seasons. We need to at least go after guys that have been relatively healthy in their careers, which doesn't seem to be Xavier unfortunately.

I'd still bring him back for the minimum. The only two people we should spend over the minimum on next year are Young and Hill IMO. Maybe Farmar, but I'm not giving him anything over 2 million.

I agree. His injury history just means he's going to be cheap. As long as we don't rely on him as a starter or anything, he's worth the investment IMO.

Bazemore / Henry / Manny Harris would be my 3 deep bench guys going into next season. All on minimum deals and if not, can be replaced without a big hassle.

We lack starters.

Farmar / Marshall / Nash
Kobe / Bazemore / Henry
____ / Young / Harris
____ / Hill / Kelly
____ / ____ / Sacre

The FO doesn't see it that way though. It's locking down a star player first, then getting a bench. Which just prolongs the rebuild.

^If we would keep a good number of those guys, we'd have a solid bench as long as we fill the other slots with defenders and a new coach of course.

I still like Farmar off the bench though. I'm a fan of the first unit playing slower and the second unit speeding things up, similar to what we were doing early in the season before the injury plague hit. That could be the best second unit in the NBA.

I think it would be a waste to keep both Bazemore & Henry if we keep young & also get a starting wing.. Don't get me wrong I like both players & would love to keep them but Kobe/starting SF/Young would ideally get almost all of the available minutes on the wings.. We'd have Baze & X fighting over garbage time. Unless the starting SF we have is just another role player.

How is it a waste keeping vet. min players? Someone has to fill out the roster. :man3:

It isn't a waste from a salary standpoint, not what I meant.. What I mean is both X & Baze deserve to be in a situation where they get to see the floor.. & if we add a real starting SF & keep Young, this isn't that situation. 1 or both of them will only see the floor in garbage time. I think the real hurdle would be convincing them to stay on in a 3rd string role when both are capable backups.

Henry might not have a choice. He was a late signing just before camp started IIRC and since that time he's show the potential of why he was drafted high and further cemented his injury plagued career.

You gotta have depth, and players fighting for playtime is a good thing. Especially with the injury history of X, I'd love to have a few players that are about at the same level at the SG position.

I would keep Henry at the minimum in a heartbeat. Same for Bazemore. I'd like both to be here on the cheap next year. Those are two good young players with potential that we could develop with a better coach.
