Yahoo: Lakers officially dumps Princeton Offense!

@WojYahooNBA

Lakers are dumping Princeton offense, sources tell Y! Sports. "This (firing) was about the offense, more than anything else," source says.

Good, that was the most bogus scheme anyways.

Pick and roll, triangle - keep it simple. We have the (best) tools.

Not mad at this.

Really curious for us to try that tonight ...

Just to see how Kobe, Pau & Dwight perform in a P&R centric offense.

Does this mean they are firing assistants, too? EJ?

So we basically wasted our entire training camp...

I never fully bought into the Princeton, but what exactly are we doing now? We have no coach, no set offense, I'm a little concerned.

I think we'll be okay, but still, I just wanna see what direction we're headed.

I think we'll figure it out.

We're better off today than yesterday that's for sure...

Sounds like it to me. I haven't heard anything about Jordan being on the bench tonight, so that's kinda a red flag.

Could be wrong though.

I think Person's job would be safe as Lakers brass likes him. But outside of him I don't know.

I think Rambis would come back (and I'd love him as an assistant) if Phil returns.

I'm concerned as well. We only have one season to convince Dwight to stay a Laker. Things have to fall into place perfectly and swiftly.

I agree, but if we fired Brown now we should have dumped him during the offseason, just a giant waste of time.

New coach would be able to hire his own staff. So i'd assume EJ is gone too?

I think we'd be able to take things from the Princeton though...so if we brought back Phil maybe we'd keep EJ bc of the similarity between Triangle and Princeton?

Princeton wasn't the problem. The coach was. You can't force-feed it. You have to put it in gradually.

It was beautiful when executed to perfection but that was rare.

Here's a breakdown of the Princeton Offense when executed to perfection and how it can stall with one player missing a cut or screen.
