After today, and essentially boycotting all NBA related TV last year, I'd have to put this season right up there with '75.

Yes - without a doubt, the most excited I have been about any pro team EVER. More than when the Yanks signed Rocket, or A-Rod and Giambi, or CC and Tex later. More than when the 49ers signed Prime Time to beat the Cowboys. More than when the Lakers signed Malone and the Glove.

This summer we signed Steve Freakin Nash to replace Fisher and Sessions.

Finally got Dwight. Signed Jamison and Meeks for our bench.

And now I have never been as sad, embarrassed, and frustrated as a fan of any team in any sport (even more than when the Yanks choked a 3-0 series lead away against the Sox). The Lakers have the highest payroll, talked about a championship, and now are more likely to be a LOTTERY TEAM than make the playoffs. :man5: :man6:

Now I don't even like turning on sportscenter or reading CBS Sports or even following the NBA. The Lakers are paying taxes to all the other teams that are laughing at them.

And on top of it all, we totally dissed Phil in a classless way. Wow. I am almost beyond words with this.

I wish we could all meet in person for a group hug. :man12:

75 and 96 were years where we were going from mediocracy to legit championship hopes. This year we went from top 6 to top 3 IMO..... on paper.

I began following the Lakers at the end of the second dynasty (71 or so) and started really following them when they weren't that good (early/mid 70's). Getting Lateef and Jabbar was a huge move for the Lakers. Getting Shaq and Kobe was as well. Especially when you look at what we gave to get them. Getting Howard and Nash isn't quite up there IMO but it was close...... again... on paper.

Funny how your grand expectations can turn to total and complete [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.].

Well to be fair, some did say "barring injury" :man1:

But seriously, I just went back to look at some old threads as well & we have threads about how we are going to beat the Heat in the finals, how embarrassing...

This was my second most anticipated season. First was 2003-2004 when Karl and Gary signed RIGHT at midnight. I will never forget Malone saying he wants to obliterate every team they play.

Maybe I need to stop anticipating.
