When half of your team doesn't seem to practice shooting the basketball even a little bit, what 'pieces' can you actually add that will make a difference? Thats what happens when you sign players that are 30+. Players decline.
True enough, but a player's shot is usually the last thing to go. I mean, to go back to my community center comment, there are a handful of guys who play at my gym who are formerly NBA affiliated in some way or another(couple of actual former players, couple of D-league guys, couple of relatives...etc.) you watch them shooting around, all well into their 30s, and they just barely ever miss, and even when they do it's still abundantly clear that they know what they are doing.
It's so maddening to watch the Lakers shoot because Metta, Murphy, Blake, Barnes, Fisher... they don't even look like they know what they are doing offensively, and when they take the shot you just have no confidence at all that it is going anywhere near in.
