I think this was a team loss if ever there was one. Ron didn't play well, but neither did anyone else. We just took a good beating from the Mavs...

Hey... at least Bynum and Shannon played good.

Shannon more so.

He won an MVP THREE years ago. No one is saying he's an MVP now.

Unreal. What's next, a "Shaq is overrated" comment? LOL.

Is Dirk a worse player than he was 3 years ago? Absolutely not. He hasn't declined at all. Great comparison. LOL.

Well, not that it matters. Even if he was the same player, no one is saying he's the MVP. You say he's overrated but no one is really rating Dirk that highly. Where are you seeing this commentary about Dirk?

Fact is though, he IS declining. He's 31. He won the MVP in the proverbial "prime" of his career.

Three consecutive years of declining FG%. Three consecutive years of declining rebounds. He's still a very good player, but he's on the decline.

Just saying he isn't doesn't cut it, sorry. I observe a slight decline in his game, and the stats reflect that as well.

No need to panic everyone. The likelihood of the Lakers putting up only 80 pts again this season is almost zero.

I refuse to believe that was the Lakers we just saw out there tonight.

For a good 75% of the game, they weren't even running the triangle.

And none of our shots were falling. I really don't know what the hell that was out there.

One of those nights. They just have to bounce back strong against Atlanta. Hoepfully Pau is back for that one.

edit -- oh and the officiating was HORRENDOUS. We shouldn't have let it get to us though.

Now THAT is a team that is going to be overrated after this win. We played the worst game of basketball I've seen from the Lakers in a LONG LONG time, and we only lost by 14. How did we not lose by 30? Seriously, how did we not lose by at least 20 pts?

Thats a simple answer actually....had phil kept in the starters the mavs would've played harder in the last 3 minutes and would've probably extended the lead to 25 or so because i see no circumstance under which we could've stopped it

Shannon needs to play 30 minutes a game ... Fisher and Farmar are hurting on D and the way they jack up shots like they were a 1st option is unbearable ( that's not based on this game only) .. Fish is a keeper for his experience but the FO should seriously consider to trade Farmar ... I barely see a young player going worse and worse like him

Impressive loss.

Fish looks super-slow, and Farmar is absolutely useless. Brown should play more.

This game just shows how critical Pau is to our rotations and especially when we play halfway decent teams. On nights when our shooting is cold, Pau helps open things up considerably on the inside, this is something that Drew still lacks the skill and scoring touch to do...Pau also slides Lamar to the bench where Lamar improves the quality of the second unit.

Shannon needs more PT with the starters....heck he needs more PT period.

Outside of that, I'm not taking much away from this game...the refs actively sabotaged our chances by getting basically every one of our starters into foul trouble at some point in the game. That travesty they called on Artest was rich...and after each horrible call they decided to hit us with Ts too. Yay. We also played without a critical offensive cog, and our scoring failed to cover for our lack of defense.

They will lose on Sunday to ATL too. Then run off 8 in a row. Sad. But true.

Well hmmmm....

Where was the triangle? No coaching, again. Should have benched Odom the first half when he kept acting like a d-bag after blatantly committing those two fouls in a row and screaming like an ape, was embarrassing to watch. Entire team didn't look like champions whining the first half. Bad calls or not gotta make plays one way or another.

I know it's early in the season but that was a pathetic performance. Kobe struggled which is unusual.. he blew quite a flew open layups a dunk and was flat on everything.

Just one game though.. maybe it was just an off night all around.

Without Pau, too much of the scoring load goes on Kobe....and the remaining starters are too inconsistent on offense. In order to win, we need strong scoring from Kobe. Can Drew step up to fill the void? I don't think Atlanta has anybody to really matchup on Drew....he could be the difference. But he needs to play smart, smarter than he did tonight.

I think what really sucks is how the Celtics are blowing teams out and how the Lakers just got blown out at home. It's early in the season, so this loss will be forgot by the time November rolls around. The season is a marathon, one game at a time. ...and of all these 82 games, one has to have the least points scored. Hopefully 80 points is that number. Hopefully.
Buckle up! This off season is going to be some ride...

Problem stems from over confident scrubs like sasha, farmar, and possibly Lamar.

Anyone notice that right after the refs gave Artest that cheap 4th foul and benched him, the Lakers started playing poorly on defense?

Agreed Lamar was acting like an idiot his ego seems to be 100x what it was. If they're going to veer fromt he triangle they need a PG running the offense nobody was doing it.. they were chucking 80% of the game.
