while i would like a move or two, considering the rotation is usually cut to 8 or maybe 9 guys in the playoffs, this actually has absolutely no indication as to success or failure in the playoffs.

Huh? The guys you see out there are the ones you will see in the playoffs. You need depth there's no other way around it. Kobe can't perform well playing extensive minutes and there's no one else on the team that can take the team out of a hole.
