I was very impressed with Kobe's passing tonight, it looked great. Odom looked a little more agressive, hopefully that carries over. I liked what I saw out of Kwame, I hope he sticks with it.

My first full Laker game watched and here's what I thought.

TEAM

Laker offense - at times they looked lost, and still don't know what to do and where to go, by the end of the game, they scrapped the triangle and were doing what came naturally.

Laker defense - holy cow, I saw a defense tonight. Sac couldn't break the press down, and LA forced turnovers! Nice to see, gotta keep that up though. Teams that can break down traps usually end up getting layups.

Laker chemistry - Tough to assess, I think Lamar & Kwame have some.

Smush - He played great, good enough to get regular minutes and contribute. He got burned a few times by Bibby but did the same to him as well, we shall see how this translates throughout the year, but overall, he had a good game.

Sasha - Did someone kidnap sasha and replace him with a better player? He played like his life was on the line, and it somewhat is... I was impressed by his aggression and tenacity and he actually hit a jumper or two.

Kobe - Do I need to say anything? His jumper was a little off, but that's extreme nitpicking.

Lamar - Got what we expected, good game.

Kwame - Played well in spurts, played well on defense, and I think if he improves his rebounding a little bit will be a great #3 option.

Mihm - Technically the Lakers were at home, but since they were in Las Vegas we got another road effort from Mihm (awful). I can't think of a single positive play by him all night.

Green - He was there, and all I can recall are the mistakes. He got some open looks, but made a few bad passes, he might've been trying too hard at times.

Profit - He started out pretty rough, but for the 2nd time, I actually confused him for Kobe, especially on that dunk coming down the key. He took some ill-advised shots, but still made some other positive plays.

George - WOW, its amazing how pre-season brings out another side of DG.

Bynum - Uh, its his 2nd game and he's 18. Which means he isn't Amare or Kobe at 18. He's got a LONG way to go. Reminds me of Kareem Rush & Sasha in their rookie seasons (god awful). Caught him flatfooted several times, was never in position for hustle points, very slow on the court, and fumbled several passes. Indecisive and missed most of his shots except a and-1 vs. Brad Miller. Still has to learn the game, failed to rotate late in the game.

The other guys aren't worthy of mentioning (if they played at all).

Decent game by the Lakers, and while I'm happy they won, I did notice that those were the scrubs playing for the Kings and Lamar Odom, Kobe, and Smush out there for LA.
Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.

When both starters were playing lakers were winning. Bibby and Peja were playing bad. The kings bench was playing good tonight which is why they were in in the 4th.

Finally the season is starting. Now you cant complain every day about how its only the preseason. :jam2:

i think we looked pretty good tonight. our defense was great until the end when we let them back into it. george looked good. kwame looked good. kobe looked great. especially that left handed facial..OMG. :man13: dare i say it...i thought sasha played ok. he hussled...played with energy..and got into mike bibby's head. which was a good thing. our defense is a lot better than it was last year that's for sure..

i almost forgot to add.....the kings should be ashamed to wear those jerseys. not only b/c they are BUTT UGLY...but b/c they are a sad attempt to jock the lakers colors. i seriously hope they NEVER wear those jerseys again. they are ugly. uglier than the ones dallas wore to start off the 03-04 season. and if you remember..they only wore those once..and then scrapped them...

His life is on the line. He's trying to play well enough that the Lakers don't send him down to NBDL.

If he keeps focused, his head in the game, and doesn't pull the same stuff he pulled with the Wizards. But if he can play like this for a full season...we will be in some good shape this year at the PF.

But...that is a massive IF

You are impressed with Kwame :man4: ? Finally :mhihi:

I wouldn't say that smush didn't do much, he made some good plays, played some D and did it all in a promising manner.

As for Odom, he played well, didn't set up the offense as well in this game, showed hints of agresiveness at times, got an effortless 19 points.
Hopefully as this season starts and progresess I expect to see Lamar spending more time down at the block posting up.

Kobe and Odom still have yet to figure out how to compliment each other thoigh we are seeing flashes of it.

It's funny how the second unit seems to be better defensively than our starters.
