Lakers lead the series 3-2

Fisher's Jumper Rescues Lakers
Derek Fisher drained the game-winning jumper at the buzzer on Thursday to lift the Lakers to a 74-73 win over the Spurs in Game 5. Tim Duncan hit an off-balance jumper with 0.4 seconds remaining to give San Antonio a one-point lead, but Fisher's jumper erased the deficit and gave Los Angeles a 3-2 West semifinals lead. Kobe Bryant scored a team-high 22.

Slava laughed at the suggestion his skills might be affected by the down time. "Are you kidding?" he said. "Basketball is like ball. It's all a circle."

this game is very important. If we lose we are not out of it by any means, but the winner will have a much easier time with the other games in the series. If we get this win, we crush them and take away all their momentum. Kobe and Shaq need to have another great 1-2 night, we are going to need both of them playing well, if we want to win this. Payton and Malone need to get a little more offensive minded. And most importantly...Shaq has to make his free throws, like he did in Game 4.

The Lakers must win this game, then they can clinch this series at Staples and not have to go back to SBC for a Game 7 (or worse, lose in six). They should come out strong, take the lead early, stop Duncan and Parker again, and contest the 3-point attempts. Come on, Lakers! Win on the road, wrap it up in L.A., and get some rest before the next round. :man7:

oh,Duncan said this situation is just like last year....yeah,they won first two,and we won 2 home game,he wanna do like last year?IT IS IMPOSSIBLE!!we are not 02-03 Lakers,we are 03-04 CAHMPION LAKERS!!so,this is the key for this series.

Can Lakers win?yes,no problem. We played good game at home, just don't forget what we do in first two game:

Game 1,we almost win but lost because of turnovers in 4th quarter,if no turnovers there,we lead 3-1,right?

Game2,we comeback in 3rd quarter,but a terrible D in 4th quarter.

then think about Game 3 and Game 4,our D stop TD and Parker, isn't it?in this four games,we know we can beat them,if we play with hustle....why not gets Game 5 and go home to win our 4th game in this series?

I believe Phil know this,Shaq,kobe,Gary,Karl....everyone know this, they will play a great game!!

GO LAKERS,road game?who cares,we are ready to win!! :jam2:

What I want is for the Lakers to blow out the Spurs and embarass them in front of their home crowd... that would be sweet vengeance for the humility they imposed upon us last year in game 6.

Our approach is different than games 1 and 2 (games we could have won)
and the fab four seems to be in harmony.

Game 5 is ours!

With the Lakers dropping the triangle and going to post up and letting the big Four do what they do best, the spurs are going to have one hell of time trying to keep up.This is really a totally different team from the first two games.... :jam2:

Let's be a little realistic here.

We ran the same kind of Game 3 defensive adjustments in Game 4, left their shooters wide open, they killed us in the first quarter, and led by 10 at the half.

Fortunately, their shooters started drawing blanks in the 2nd half.

But it just shows that once their shooters start hitting, we could find ourselves in the same 1st half hole, or worse.

I want the Lakers to come back home 3-2, but I'm just trying to look at it from all angles.

The Spurs played "Spurs" basketball in Game 4 and we still managed to win. It's not just their shooters started to hit blanks, credit the Lakers defense for that too. They forced Tony and Duncan into some bad shots, and for the most part kept the ball out of Ginobli's hand in the perimeter.

Okay well the spurs perimeter shooters were 'drawing blanks' is because in the second half they didn't immediatly double duncan. If he made a move shaq would come over to help, if he didn't payton or whoever was doubling him would close in cutting of his passing lanes. the only way to get it out is to lob it over a defenders head, in which case would give payton plenty of time to rotate back. so they made a few quick adjustments at half time and it worked. I honestly believe that Pop still doesn't have an answer for this. I don't think any of them do. The Laker defense is tremendously underrated. When they play as a singular defensive unit they have better defense then even the spurs. Plus Pop never thought jackson would stray from the triangle. The team prefers pick and role style now because A) that's Payton and malone's kinda game and B) kobe and shaq play any offense great so they can adapt. Spurs will play with much more heart and agression, but now that the fab four are all pretty much on, the spurs just can't match the firepower. My suggestion is play right along w/ them staying within 5 points, then demoralize with some good ole fashion showtime :D and trust me these four can deliver showtime just like the lakers of old. take that energy into the 4th and cruise to victory.

We need to play good in the first half(down by 4 at most), Lakers will have a big third Q. Game will be tied with 3 mins in the 4th then Kobe will take over and get us the victory. GO LA

Punch 'em in the mouth early, yeah.
This is a must win, no doubt. Lakers must just drain this team; turn them into lifeless corpses. Take the air out of them early, knock some intimidation into them, throw Shaq some lobs, let him dunk it in people's grills and move the ball around like they have been. D is also a must. Keep that intensity moving. I want the Spurs to be putrid pieces of fecal matter.
By the way, that is one funny pic of Slava. IFL, hahahaha.
