And by that.. you truly do mean escaped! Man.. we need to get all of our players healthy and start stepping up for real! I'm not too sure of how much longer we're going to survive playing the way that we have been playing.

Gary still is a very good defender, he did a perfect job of not letting Francis get the ball with 11 seconds left, this forced the Rockets to call another timeout.

I'm an opimist, so I'm looking at it from another angle. Lakers played awesome D tonight, very Spurs-esque, no easy baskets. If we keep this up we'll win it all

lol, I was noticing that, but I don't know if Bill Walton was talking tongue-in-cheek or actually believing it was a pass. He made the same call in the 1st quarter I believe when his son air-balled a three that Shaq caught and put back in. I think he was just jokingly saying they were passes though.

Dayam we really sucked tonight.. I'm surprised Jackson didn't hit that 3 at the end of the game. Nothing was goin well tonight, and to top it all off Javie was one of the officials... We barely won, and I'm just glad that somehow we pulled though.

Terrible Offense; Amazing Defense...

I'd take 1000 ugly wins over any pretty loss.

wouldn't exactly call it that way; Houston, having never really experienced a playoff game since Hakeem, were just trying to "probe" their way through the playoff atmosphere; remember, this is Van Gundy's first season guiding the team and Yao's first playoff appearance. The team combined has only been in 41 playoff appearances. They didn't know what to expect and as a result had 22 turnovers and lots of missed shots--although yes, you've got to credit a lot of it on our defense.

Also this game had the feeling that the refs dominated the game. Okay, I'll admit we weren't exactly playing well either but I felt that the refs saw more physical contact than they called. I also think that we had many opportunities to put this team away with most of their big men getting into foul trouble but that wasn't the case--it may have been "playing to the level of their competition. It was a somewhat sloppy game--I think both teams were trying to probe the playoff atmosphere once more, the Lakers were trying to acclimate GP and the Mailman in to see what they can do. And don't forget, a lot of the guys on both teams were playing through injuries.

If you're one who puts alot of weight in stats, this series should be over. Phil is 36-0 in series where he won game 1...

Listen, we didn't suck. It was one of the most highly contested basketball games I've ever seen. Both teams played superb defense.

There's alot we can improve on from game 1. And that's the beauty of the playoffs - you can make adjustment. We're up in the series 1-0, and now we can make adjustments for a more dominant victory.

Great game, the last thing we're complaining about is offense. Ironically, that's been our plus this season. Keep your heads up guys, we're in good shoes right now.

Also, that was one of the worst officiating games this season. I was complaining on Rocket calls, let alone Laker ones.

Terrible.
