Lakers Face Music in Memphis
Shaquille O'Neal scored 20 points and pulled down 12 rebounds but the Lakers lost to the Grizzlies 105-95 Monday. Devean George added 17 points and six rebounds for Los Angeles, which looks to get back on the winning track when it hosts Toronto on Wednesday.

I'm sorry Posto, but thats 107 points by all 5 starters and you only said that they scored 104....

This game should be relatively easy based on the amount of rest the team will get the weekend off, so they should be pumped up and ready. We went 4-0 against these guys last year, so expect it easy...but the Grizz really have a new look this year, with Mike Miller, Bo Outlaw and Jake underachiever Tsakalidis....the Grizz are very equivocal in their players and they have extremely balanced scoring, I mean it, West really put together a balanced team here--Watson, Battier, Wright, Person and Outlaw and Tsakalidis--all effective off the bench...and there's Jason Williams, Mike Miller, Pau Gasol, Stromile Swift, and James Posey, who could be dangerous under the reins of Hubie Brown.

I'll let JSM make the matchups line, but it should be obvious to figure out, Devean George is better than James Posey...

its all right man, its alright...its always good to have our dreams come true...if the Lakers can build up that stat sheet, we wouldn't need a bench at all...

Payton/Williams-Both are guys who like to get out and run, so this should be a fun game to see. Williams will get lost in defending Payton, because of Payton's superior knowledge of the game and game situations. And Payton is under control when he plays, while Williams still plays erratic. Both will get double digits and a good amount of assists, but Payton should be able to force Williams to cause some turnovers and get some easy steals. But with these 2 guys at the point, look for there to be a lot of running and probably some fast breaks.

Kobe/Person-Miller may play, but is listed day to day, after twisting his ankle last night. Kobe against Person, this could be another big game for Kobe. Person is older and slower than some of Kobe's recent matchups. Kobe should be able to beat him with his first step, almost every time. Person has only been playing for about a quarter 1/2 and won't be able to handle going up against Kobe for the entire game.

George/Posey-George has been playing much better than Posey this year, and don't look for that to change in this game. George will get some good looks early, and if he connects on those, look for him to have a good overall game, and finish with a good shooting %.

Malone/Gasol-Gasol is a good 3 inches taller than Malone, and is fairly long, so he will probably be their leading scorer. Hopefully Malone can play some D on him, and aggravate his shot. And look for Malone to get a double-double, because he's a lot more aggressive on the boards.

Shaq/Swift-Shaq is over 4 inches taller and close to 100 heavier than Swift. Shaq should be able to position himself in the paint early, and get a lot of easy baskets.

Lakers/Grizzlies-Look for both teams to run a lot. We should be able to out rebound them with extreme ease. Shaq and Kobe will have big games. Memphis likes to shoot a good amount of 3's, so that will help us get some easy fast break opportunities. And Memphis will be missing some key players due to injuries-Miller, Battier, Bell, Jones, and Humphrey.

This should be a very easy victory for us.

Remember the Grizzlies ran all over us last April and wen't up by 23 points going into the 4th quarter, then come Rush and Pargo to hit a bunch of three's and we were in it, cue Kobe's buzzer beater..

yeah but look who on their team is injured: Mike Miller, Shane Battier, Troy Bell, Dahntay Jones, and Ryan Humphrey.

I didn't know Miller and Battier were injured.

Are they gonna play?

nah...jsm, who says they are gonna start Stromile Swift? Yeah they have all these injured guys but if the Grizz were smart they should start Iakovos (Jake) Tsakalidis....he's 7'2" and although an underachiever, should find an easier defensive job against Shaq...Stromile can come off the bench, he's a weak-side shotblocker, but I look for him to take on Malone more...if Miller and Battier aren't playing, I can't see how they win...but here's the lineup if you so please: Williams, Person, Posey, Gasol and Tsakalidis.....either that or they can use Lorenzen Wright at center...they have a lot of useful guys out there if some get injured.

I don't think Tsakalidis will play much...out of their 6 games, he's played one of them. He only played 6 minutes, but he did scores 4 points and get 3 boards in that amount of time, but I don't think Memphis wants to use him much. I don't care if he's tall or not, he only weights 218, Swift weights more than that. And I forgot about Wright, but I still think Swift will start because he is the best scorer out of those, and they know whoever they start won't be able to stop Shaq, so why not start someone that can at least score to even things out a bit

ok Tsakalidis does NOT weigh 218!!! hes like 7-2 290!!! I think Stromile will start but Jake will come in and play big mins if Stromile begins to struggle against Shaq....

I just went by what it said at Sportsline

I really don't care what the score is or who scores the points. The key to our season this year is going to be Shaq & Kobe will have to lead the way 85% of the time and we have to have 6 players in double figures. Not to mention, we have to start getting hungry on defense again. Shaq & Kobe getting 25-30 each every night and 4 other players in double figures, will pretty much get us a victory every night. Pull up our 5 wins, look at the balanced attack and then look at our loss. Those box scores pretty much tell the story, it had nothing to do with being tired or back to back games. It was the lack of a balanced attack and terrible defense.

I see the Lakers winning by at least 11 tomorrow. Having the whole weekend off and having an opportunity to go over some of the mistakes they made last week, they will be ready to start another winning streak tomorrow.
