Refs basically giving the Mavs the win off a dubious foul call was terrible. I can't stand game winning free throws.

it was a foul......
yes Kidd held Kobe before the handoff but they're never gonna call that

Prior to this season and since the 07-08 playoffs we only lost one Game 1 at home and that was to the Rockets in the semi finals. I don't even really count that though because they lost Yao and really weren't a threat at all. We just lost two game 1's in consecutive series. That bugs and frightens me.

And we all know Phil's record. Basically you win Game 1, things look better for the series.

We have no size adavantage against this team and they've got a ton of scorers. Despite everyone wanting the front office to add a perimeter threat at the deadline, it did not happen. The Mavs have put together a complete, well-balanced squad. We'll see how it plays out.

Nowitzki scores whenever he wants to. That's a problem.

If we have an advantage, it's our head coach. He's going to have to pull a rabbit out of his hat in this series.

I completely agree. The Mavericks match up well with the Lakers, and they have a solid chance to win this series. It's not over by any means, but the Lakers have a lot of work and soul searching ahead of them if they want to move on to the WCF.

:mad1: Kobe turned the game around in the 3rd quarter... showboating, ball hogging... The team was in a good rhythm and everyone happy making shots, touching the ball and playing defense and ready to go away with it.. then of course Kobe has to hog the spotlight and start shooting outside shot after shot (Artest got carried away with it too.. big men I think took one shot and touch the ball three times). That's why all this blame Pau, blame Phil, blame the ref. daddadada... they wouldn't have been in that position if Mr Jordan wannabe would've been content with a 16 point lead on maybe more. Did you see Mr. Cuban.. that guy was just happy the dumba$$ side of Kobe showed up. :mad1:

I must say though, CL must have upgraded their servers because the site is coping with the increased "we just got our a**es handed to us" traffic much better this year.

but we lost Game 2 on two other occasions, i just dont see why game 1 and game 2 are different... lost home court advantage either way

Crappy loss for sure, no doubt about that... Bench blew it, refs blew it, D blew it, Kobe blew it, Pau blew it, blah, blah, F'ing blah... Whatever, no excuses.. The LAKERS lost, the Mavs made the shots when they needed to..

But I ain't givin' up on these guys, unlike some folks here are already doing.. I figured we'd take this in six, and I still feel that way...

On to game two on Wednesday...

This is always the excuse when we lose. How about we're just getting worse and the other teams are getting better?

The Lakers were not beaten convincingly but on a characteristic ciesta in the 3rd quarter and questionable calls in the dying seconds, i.e. The Lakers beat the Lakers... How about that? :man12:

There is some quality missing from this team and I don't think they are going to make it to the finals because they are not dominating like they should. It's way too competitive for a team to think they can squeeze by series after series to win the championship. A team like that runs out of luck. They have to start dominating and take care of business ... they lost 5 straight during the season and Phil has never gone to finals with a record like that...

It's actually significant. Phil is undefeated when winning Game 1. Certainly not the case when losing Game 1 and winning Game 2. Wouldn't you rather fall under the scenario where we have clearly had success?
