I'll take that loss. Our lack of execution was the story of the game. Terrible offensive execution. It's as simple as that.

We took bad shots, and that has to do partly with the Piston's defense, and partly because we just now figured out parts of their strategy.

Brown took game one from us in 2001. Repeat of history? Probably not, but we have to fight now. And we'll fight... Lakers now have a war on their hands. I don't expect them to play like this again...

I am so disappointed in the Lakers right now. Detroit came out firing, came out strong and the Lakers thought they could sleepwalk through another game. Hopefully this will wake them up and make them play like I know they can and shut down some of these guys from the Pistons. Detroit should not be able to win with Rip having such a poor game. Game 2 - here we come!

6? I hope so...3 in a row at Detroit is a tall order if we don't buck up. We can definitely win this series though!

What I noticed in this game is that about 3/4 of the Lakers 10 3 point misses went off the back of the rim. I have never before seen Lakers miss like that. It made the same weird noise every time too.

I look for the Lakers to adjust and come out swinging on Tuesday.

Ok had time to think now.

Adjustments for game 2 will be made. This team is way to talented to lose game 2. Like Kobe said, they didn't know the Pistons and now they better know them. If you think about it, this is the second time Larry Brown faces the Lakers in the Finals. He knows how to take game 1's from us. Just like the Philly series, the Lakers will make the necessary adjustments to win this series.

I still believe, Lakers in 6. I just thought they would win game 2, not game 1 but same difference. We will take 2 at the Palace and finish it at home in game 6.

I believe the Pistons played the best game they could play and they will not play this way again in this series.

hey we only need to win 2 in detroit if we win game 2, remember 1988, we lost game 1 at the fvorum and we won game 3 in detroit

Wow...Lakers shot 18 FT's while the Pistons shot 30. That seems a bit odd to me.

Well, now we threw home court right out the door. And in this seires, unlike against the Sixers,we won't win 4 straight. So now, we MUST win game 2, and win 2 games in Detroit, which will be extremely difficult. I really don't know if we can win this series now. Beating Detroit 2 times in detroit will be extremely difficult. I don't know why we can't stop the pick and roll, when we did against the spurs, and tony parker is much better then billups. IMO, we will be back in L.A. down 3-2. Good job Lakers. :mad1:

Wassup rw1! Nice to show up out of hiding at the "end" of the game once you could be 100% yall would get the victory! I'm just kidding.. :man12:

But yeah guys.. I think this was another one of those wake-up slaps in the face type games that we needed. We were overconfident and now we can get serious and realize the competition we're up against. Plus, as Kobe mentioned.. they needed a feel for the Pistons, and now they have that. If nothing more.. at least now it's looking more likely that when we win the NBA Title.. it will be in LA in Game 6 now. We just HAVE to get Game 2 and steal 2 in Detroit which I think is possible if the proper Lakers team shows up!

BTW, does Kobe have any court appearances or anything schedule on any of the upcoming games???! Especially one in Detroit?!

No big deal guys...just game 1. Karl, Payton, Fisher, George...they were all non existant tonight while the Pistons had everyone and their mother working for the points. The Lakers need Malone to be in the game and tonight he just wasn't...the series is far from over...keep your chins up. :)

Interesting.. didn't notice that, but we can't even pull the ref card for tonight's poor performance overall.

All I hear is this negative crap. Some of yall "Laker fans" are the most pessimistic people or bandwagoners (can't figure out which). Here are some truth from tonight's game.

1. Detroit is a very overrated team.
2. Detroit is nowhere near as good of a defensive team as everyone says. I think the Rockets and Spurs are much tougher on D.
3. This is the first real feel we got for the Pistons, we are unfamiliar with their game due to not playing them much, now we know how they tick.
4. Rip is very overrated.
5. Kobe is the best defensive player in the league.
6. Big Ben is the worst offensive big man in the playoffs and not a good defender against REAL competition in the West.
7. We were rusty. Kobe and Shaq were the only ones to do anything, that will not happen again.
8. The Pistons 5 big men can't slow down Shaq.
9. Shaq can make free throws when they count.
The same thing happened last time we played Brown, and look at the final result.
10. The Lakers are now mad. They don't like to lose in the Finals. It will not happen again.
