We're gonna be hungry. We need to set the tone early.

tha last 3 games...we havent set tha tone early...this game we NEED to come out with a BANG...we need to kill tha blazers...absolutely KILL them to convince tha league that we're not headin downhill after our first loss to tha mavs at home after 13 yrs....this is kind of a statement game, but we also need this win comin into our 6 days off....so we can start fresh and come back and start a new winning streak....january is right around tha corner and we need as many wins as we can get durin tha month of december...it woulda been nice to go undefeated in Dec...but hey 23-4 sounds good goin into january right?

It's going to be a tough game I predict, look for Payton to motivate these Lakers to send a statement out early.

thanks for the tip on streaming, this makes my sunday afternoon much easier. I can listen to the game instead of having to wait for courtside live.

2 games in December...please don't be worried, because I'm expecting an onslaught of "<insert name here> sucks" post coming. Titles aren't won in December...

Here's the stats.

Kobe 35 pts., 5 rbs., 6 asst.
Payton 14, 3, 4
Malone 14, 9, 3
Shaq 22, 10, 4
George 7, 4, 2.

Other scorers were:
Russell had 8 pts. and Slava added 6 along with Grant's 2.

Fish went scoreless again and I don't even think Rush got much PT tonight coming off that nice performance last night.

You know what, I loved Fish, but now i am gonna start siding with anti-fish, cause fish really screwed us during crunch time, and his two costly misses might have cost us the game. Payton also had a big part in the loss for missing that free throw he should have made. Im not saying the Lakers suck cause they obviousley dont, but we need to start stepping up our play.

payton blew tha game straight up....

Shaq is an excuse he'll always miss FT's no matter what

but payton blew it...

he didnt play defense on stoudemire tonight and let him get 2 wide open treys to bury us...

i hate how tha blazers can beat us but lose to a team like tha wizards at home....

ahhh back to back lossses...i was hopin we'd get a win goin into our 6 days of rest...kobe played fantastic...other lakers hafta step up...

imma hafta agree with anti fish...fisher has really killed us tha last 2 games with his non-offense....we shoulda put rush in tha game instead of fisher....

It's o.k. We all knew, realistically, that our beloved team would not go undefeated. Hell, we know they'll lose at least a few more before going on to capture the "2004 NBA World Champion" title. They'll get it together. :jam2:

Another tough loss. In the last 4 games, the Lakers has been in a deep funk. No hustle, poor perimeter defense, lack of offensive and defensive rebounding. More standing-around-basketball. Complacency has set in. Phil Jackson always stressed passion for the game. Playing solid defense and rebounding. Kobe shot well after poor offensive performance against the Mavs. Kobe should not settle with perimeter shots. He can score by slashing and driving in the paint. Our guards got lit up by their guards. This was the case in the Jazz, Knicks, and Mavs games. It reminded me of the preseason games. We need more rebounders than shooters. Maybe activate Jamal Sampson or get a rebound specialist.

Here's my take on the loss:

We need to start winning our road games. We're 6-4 on the road now, which is barely over .500-- that's unacceptable for our calibur of players.

Shaq played terrible tonight-- he allowed WAY too many second chance points and easy dunks for Dale Davis and Ruben Patterson. Although he shot at a high percentage, he forced a few of his shots where he had people wide open on the perimeter.

Payton lacked defensive intensity as well, making another mediocre point guard, tonight Damon Stoudemire, go for 20+ points. He sure didn't look like the Glove tonight. I don't doubt he'll come back intense next game though.

Once again, Derek Fisher scores ZERO points-- he needs to find a way out of this slump. He's our spark off the bench and if he's not doing well, we're losing a key part of our backup lineup.

Kobe was our only source of offense. 35 points on 10/18 shooting. Excellent performance by him. He also shut down McInnis to 8 points. He really seems to be getting his legs back the way he was jumping and running out there.

I'm VERY surprised Kareem Rush didn't play after scoring 12 points for us last night. If there was anytime for him to find a rhythm, it would have been now. We should have given Fisher'sminutes to him tonight.

Horace Grant is aging very quickly-- I can't wait until Brian Cook or Jamal Sampson come back. Horace still gets it done but he's very slow and soft especially on the defensive end.

You gotta hand it to the Blazers (and Mavs as well) who contributed to our losses in back-to-back games right here. Rasheed Wallace came strong and pumped in points over some tough defense by Devean George, as did Randolph, being guarded by Malone. Wesley Person once again played few minutes but came up big in crunch time with two HUGE three-pointers for the Blazers. They may have a bad image over there in Portland, but you can't knock their heart.

We'll have a lot to think about over this 6 day break. Hopefully we will come hard against the Nuggets on the 19th, and set the tone early.
