Tomjanovich, Lakers Topple Rockets
Lamar Odom and his Los Angeles Lakers teammates helped coach Rudy Tomjanovich make a successful return against his former team. Playing on a sore left foot, Bryant made just 7-for-20 shots but had 19 points and 11 rebounds. Odom had 20 points, 13 rebounds and five assists to help the Lakers hold on for an 84-79 victory over the shorthanded Houston Rockets.

Sure. We can also say 4-4. McGrady can't handle Kobe when healthy; hurt, Kobe's going to drop 40 again. In short, T-Mac won't be the deciding factor. You've got to beat the Lakers somewhere else than at the 2/3 spot. If the Lakers lose, it'll be over Mihm.

You read my post, right? If we lose, it'll be over Mihm. Kobe can score 40 and we can still lose; see last game. But McGrady won't beat us.

This could be a tough game. I don't like the depth right now without Jumaine. I know it's one guy, but its half of our production from the bench at the moment, other half being Brian Grant.

Will Slava be back? They really could use him right about now.

were gonna win this game. We pretty much have every postion beat aside from center. But im sure Mihm can contain their centers. The only worry is if Mihm gets into foul trouble early. Hes the only tall body we have. They have Yao and Mutumbo. I expect Brown to shine in this game considering their point guards suck.

The key is for Kobe to drive past T-mac early (easy) and just run into Yao Ming to get Yao into foul trouble. With Yao on the bench, we can easily handle T-Mac.

Hmm...

Lakers need to focus on two things: Yao Ming and causing the double team.

The ONE problem that has been exposed this year against Houston is their poor defense when they run double teams. This has shown in the preseason and regular season so far, so the Lakers need to work off Kobe Bryant, and Kobe needs to draw the double, and pass to the open man...

...which brings me to Yao Ming. First off, it's no question that we need to defend the post heavily...but if anyone watches the Rockets, Yao has trouble against quick teams. Guys like, for example, Butler and Tierre, who can run circles around him and take his mind off defending the hoop...and that's where Mihm comes into play.

What needs to be stressed against Yao is penetration. Put him in a position where he has to leave Mihm...because he won't be able to get back in time if the pass is sweet and on the money.

Back on track...to the double team...the Rockets are going to have to double team Kobe to win this game. So...there's no argument that there will be an open man nearly everytime down court, so this game falls on Kobe Bryant's shoulders, not to score 50 points...but to rack up buckets AND throw 8-10 assists in this game, or if not assists, at least effective passes that lead to buckets.

If the Rockets avoid the double team, then Kobe will light McGrady up for 40 and it all falls on Mihm's shoulders then, to effectively grab boards and play smart basketball when our guards are penetrating and drawing Ming away from the hoop.
