phil was terrible today. kwame did a great job on shaq so why not bring him back at the end of the game?? mihm is NOT better than kwame.....

A shame we lost the game.

That was a game that we definetely should have won. We let them hang around too much in the 3rd though instead of putting the game away.

man, we gave that one away. completely disappointed. there is no excuse for all the easy buckets we missed, kobe included.

I dont care what any of you says, we lost the game for these reasons:

1) too many shots from 3 pointer, looked like last year....

2) Not giving the ball to kobe ON THE WING and making it difficult for him by running pick and rolls from 32 feet.

3) Smush leaving payton on his 3 pointer that gave miami a 94-92 lead.

4) Missed free throw , layups ( kwame missed wide open layup, kobe missed 6 fts)

5) Kobe not pump faking on that last 3 pointer

Man, I told my pops in the 3rd that we lost this 1. We had them on the ropes and Kwame missed that layup when he should of dunked and Miami scored on the other end, that play right there killed our momentum and I honestly think that was a major turning point in the game. Other than that Kwame played a pretty good game.
The Miami PG's won this game for them.
Overall, exciting game and I hate we lost

Reasons why we not lost but sucked

-Outside shooting
Kobe and Odom 0-13 and the rest not much better. Some horrific threes by Kobe

-We FAILED to pull away in the 3rd when they were without Shaq and Wade for stretches

-The perimeter D was terrible. J-Will and Payton had layup drills specially Payton wasn´t covered by ANY BODY. Kobe got beaten several times by a screen. I know Wade is too quick to recover but he didn´t even try to recover after they set a screen beside that great hustle. Odom had to constantly play help D because Kobe couldn´t handle the screen (who can?). Smush and Sasha were terrible


- Why do we play the extra pass on open looks? Odom? Walton? Smush? WTF take the shot if you are open you knucklehead

- extremely weak rebounding specially in the clutch

- VERY SLOPPY offensively. Some stuoid TOs. Some sucky ref calls

- Kobe was tired or whatever , he just passed on every possession in the 4th and the last 3 was beyond stupid. With 3 seconds left he could get a better shot than a 30 ft. turnaround that he nearly airballed

-Lamar missed a wide open 3 at the end and Miami finished on a 9-1 run to ruin our christmas.


Kwame with excellent D on Shaq, Lamar was really hustling although he looked terrible on some TOs and open long range shots.
It was a close game, that was what I was looking for. We never gave up and fought ourselves back in the game, just couldn´t finish it. We better win in Washington tomorrow. Kobe kept us in the game in the first half and played great but inthe second half he went down. Excellent game3 by Cookie

Deja Vu for Kobe

Went 12-30 in both Christmas games, and went cold in both second halves.

And he missed both threes at the end of the game.

No more Lakers games on Christmas Day please, especially against the Heat.

Way too much strain on my heart and way too much heartbreak.

As for those who are saying that we'll get them back at home, all I have to say is...whatever. The Christmas Day Game was the BIG ONE, the WrestleMania encounter if you will. Nobody will remember the next game in January a few years from now.

wow... this hurts. we took way too much 3's. lots of kobes shot was in and out !!! when kobe had the ball at the last second of 3rd quater, he should've juss drived in not shooting the 3... and lama missed a lot of 3's... i hope we own them on jan.16 cauz im going to teh game

I can´t believe we missed that many FTs (Kobe) and blew those layups and bricked those 3s. damn

Brian Cook scored 15 points and Odom added 14 and 16 rebounds for the Lakers, who were edged by the Heat in overtime a year ago on Christmas. After the game, Odom and Payton yapped at each other near midcourt.


what happened?

I dunno about you guys but we held up pretty good... even if shaq and wade were on the bench for a good period of time

it's all a learning experience! we are getting better ... just forget this game and lets move on to the next and get on a nice win streak

but yea I know I wish we woulda won this one as well

Kobe has the worst shooting percentage IN THE NBA in the 4th quarter among all guys that have taken 100+ shots so far. Thats inacceptable for a player like him who likes to take many shots in the 4th and is considered clutch. really its a damn annoying loss and for the second christmas game he starts hot and finishes ridiculous.

1 - correct

2 - Kobe got the ball ALOT on the right wing, but just settled for J's.

3 - Smush was pretty bad. The occasion got the better of him. He will learn from it though.

4 - agreed

5 - Kobes legs were dead. If he pump faked, he would have air mailed the shot.

reasons we lost?

1- refs (couple of big missed calls. +2 obvious loose ball fouls on shaq)
2- our bench was garbage (besides george and kwame's D)
3- failure to make shots (way too many missed open looks)
4- SMUSH (damn, the guy was OWNED by a washed up GP)

This loss is so painful.

it's really not all that bad. i mean, look at our roster and look at theirs.... the fact that we had a chance to win on the road with this roster says a lot about our coaching. and they say phil picks his spots and joins "ready-made championship contenders"? haha..look at riley. coughbackstabbercough. we'll win in LA.

You know what hurts is that Kobe is the tragic hero. He worked his butt off and after that great first half settled for horrible jumpers. Damn you gotta drive on Payton, I hate that soft mentality. Missing all those FTs was also a reason we lost. These games are most decided by 1-2 possessions and those sloppy plays hurt after the game even more but I have to say Maimi did a good job hustling in the 4th.
What hurts most? that Wade was driving on EVERY possession and Kobe didn´t drive at all in the second half, he had dead legs for whatever reason and got owned by Miami again. In the 4th he looked like he has nothing in the tank.

Winning in LA really means nothing to me.

We lost the one that counted, the one that people will remember -- the Christmas Game.
