Alright, this one will probably be more difficult. And you never know which Lakers team will show up. If Ron does good job on KD again, we have a decent chance.

Is Perk playing? Probably not, right?

In that case Pau/Bynum are going against Collison/Ibaka. They better own that matchup.

I want to see the Durantula repeat his all star 3 point contest performance.

No doubt this will be a tough game, but the Lakers will win IF they treat it like a playoff game. Otherwise, the Thunder will lower the boom on them tomorrow.

Perkins is not playing. Last night on the post-game show (after the Lakers beat the Clippers), Joel and Stu said Perkins will be out 7-10 days, so you're right: our bigs will need to take advantage of theirs.

Lakers have won 3 in a row so it's about time for them to regress again and have a bad game. Also, it's on national tv so they also have to play bad. And I'm a little concerned about Kobe's elbow.

My prediction: Gasol and Bynum look soft against Ibaka and whatever other stiff they throw at them. Kobe shoots too much because no one else is doing anything, but his jumper's off. Westbrook and Durant go crazy and OKC pulls away in the second half for a blowout. Monday morning, we're back to square one again.

There are couple of factors working against the Lakers today:

1. Early game.....Lakers will need to dig deep to show up awake and with their biological clocks in tune
2. On the road in OKC, where in the playoffs, the refs put together the blueprint that allows the Thunder to compete with and beat the Lakers: massive FTA differentials (+20 range).
3. The team has run off another brief win streak, and so a mental letup is possible.

Javie is reffing this one......so dial back the ref doom a bit. He's one of the fairer draws we could ask for actually.

The Lakers are favored today, making the Thunder a 2 point Home underdog. The over/under is 199 as well.

Steve Javie, Kevin Fehr, and Eli Roe are the refs for today’s game. Eli Roe is a “homer” ref meaning the Home teams in his officiated games have a “winning” record when it comes to covering the spread. Javie and Fehr both have “losing” records for the home team against the spread on the surface.
However, all 3 refs have .500 or better records for the home team covering the spread when the home team is the underdog and the spread is between 0-4.5 points. So looks like we have 3 homer refs for the spread coverage = THIS SHOULD FAVOR THE THUNDER.

The other portion is the over/under. Javie is the lowest in this total with an average of 191.9, but both Fehr and Roe have averages of 199.5 and 201.1. So on the surface this game should be high scoring and has a good chance of going over 199. However, Javie is listed as the #1 official so his low scoring ref style could have a big influence. However, when the over/under is between 195-204.5, all three refs have a “winning” record on the over side. With all that said, I will tend to speculate that the game will go over. THIS SHOULD FAVOR THE THUNDER.

Lastly, is the actual win/loss records of the home team. The win rate for the home team for each official is: Javie 62%, Fehr 71%, Roe 74%. Thus indicating that home teams regardless of outcome to over/under or point spread tend to win the actual basketball game being played. SO OBVIOUSLY THIS FAVORS THE THUNDER AS WELL.


Based on these stats, I predict the Thunder win today.

One of my favorite moments is when he said rings don't determine greatness and then turns around and says that Kobe isn't the greatest Laker because both him and Magic are tied with 5 rings.

Welcom aboard. This is the type of analysis I like. You present the stats and now we will see how this pans out... the refs are a unaccountable cabal. My belief is the only way for the Lakers to fare against this is to ignite and shoot out the lights... this takes the game out of refs hands...
