Lakers Cut Down Nets
Despite playing without an injured Kobe Bryant, Los Angeles stepped up in the second half to overcome the Nets in a 96-88 home win on Sunday. Shaquille O'Neal poured in a game-high 32 points and grabbed nine boards. Gary Payton added 18 points for the Lakers, who look to extend a three-game win streak Monday against the Jazz.

The Lakers are 9-2 since the All-Star break-- we should make that 10-2 in this game.

and when malone comes back and kobe..back..we'll be 'bulletproof'...hehehehe

Let's hope we bring that same intensity we did when we played them at home. We beat them by like 17 or so, so hopefully without Kobe, Kareem and Luke can step up like they did so today. Kareem his some clutch shots, like Luke did vs Houston. We better bring our A game, we're playin at home!

what happened to jason kidd last sunday?!?..he was terrible?

Well the Nets looked very terrible without Kidd out there. They just are missing the key piece in the puzzle it seems. Does anybody know if Kidd will return this game against us?

Here's a Malone update from ESPN:

Malone is expected to miss Sunday's game at home against New Jersey, and Monday's against his former Jazz teammates at Utah. He will make the trip to Utah, but said he didn't want to get into the game unless he played at least 15 minutes or so, which seems unlikely. "The most important thing is to be all the way back," he said. Jackson said Malone's not ready to play yet. Malone tore a ligament in his right knee Dec. 21 and landed on the injured list for the first time in his career.

Unless Kobe is OK, it looks like the Lakers will be without him, and I don't believe Karl will be back before Monday's game against Utah at the earliest. But I think the Lakers will still be able to beat the Nets, even if Kidd plays well. Shaq should dominate and might even continue to hit his freebies. GP will keep Kidd in check and counter his scoring/assists with some of his own, and the others will step up, especially Luke and Rush. I'm less worried about this game than I am about Kobe's condition. :man7:

Well this game's going to be tense for us because we just beat the Nets last Sunday and they will look to repay the favor with vengance this time around, especially without Kobe.

It's going to be a dangerous game if we let it be. If we do what we're supposed to do and pound the ball into Shaq 30 times a game we will win this one.

bad news...Karl Malone's return date is backed another 2 WEEKS! Phil expects him to play March 17th against the Clippers...I guess everyone wants to return against the Clippers (Chris Webber).

Hopefully he doesn't play, that would really increase our chances of winning and it would allow GP to have a big game.

Yeah. The Nets without Kidd is like a blind man trying to cross the road. If he doesn't play, it really will increase our chances of winning by alot.

That's a good point Shaq Fan. Since Kobe is out, the Nets may very well let Kidd rest this one out.

Kidd Is Expected to Play; Bryant May Miss Month
The network did not get much information out of the Nets, but ABC officials can relax. Even though the team lists his fate as a game-time decision, Kidd worked out with the team at practice Saturday and will most likely play against the Lakers on Sunday afternoon.

"But that's not guaranteed," said Kidd, who missed the first three games of the Nets' West Coast trip with a bruised left knee. He said he felt better and would see how he felt Sunday before deciding.
