Lakers Sail to Victory
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 22 (Ticker) -- Kobe Bryant continues to get his.

Playing another aggressive game, Bryant scored 25 points as the Los Angeles Lakers posted a 113-102 preseason victory over the Los Angeles Clippers.

Clippers-Lakers: 300k
In his previous four preseason contests, Bryant had averaged 16.8 shots and was getting to the line 9.5 times per contest.

Bryant played 27 minutes in this one, going 5-of-13 from the field and 14-of-17 at the line.

Pre-season or not - that was a great game to see!

Wow! Virtually everyone gave their all and left it out there on the floor. It's no great to see 4 out of 5 players scrambling for every loose ball while the other breaks free down the court waiting for the pass. Rudy has got these guys doing the right things - rebounding and running. A little more intense on defense and once again more communication on the defensive end and these guys are on their way to making some noise this year.

Player by player they were great tonight:
Cook - That shot is looking awfully familiar to Laker fans (ala Horry). And he sho0wed a couplem flashes of intense defense tonight which is nothing but a huge dividend to his game.
Grant - Healtht is a wonderful thing for players especially for energetic hustle players like Grant - fantastic game!
Kobe - Shared the ball well and really made an effort to show some faith in his teammtes to carry the load.
Mihm - Business as usual. A little over zealous and sloppy on defense tonight but it was more due to unabashed hustle than to bad play.
Atkins - Starting to run the break a little better and finally got his jumper almost up and moving like normal.
Brown - Well, needless to say this kid ahs made the team. he is finding seams and passes availabale that don't exist. He's tearing everyone up on offense and containing quick guards exceptionally well.
Vujacic - I'm still not a believer in this kid. he's got a ton of work to do to really contribute, but you can tell the desire to do well and learn is there.
Bobbit - Cutting this guy cis a tough thing to do. He's showing a great shot and a knack for defensive footwork. Maybe stow him away in a suit until we're sure Karl is coming back or not.
Butler - All the sudden the guy is rebounding with the big guys and really is showing some unexpected tenacity on defense. Once the adjustment to the finger splint kicks in, the Lakers have their starting SF.
Odom - To me, this was the PERFECT Odom game and one I would love to see night in and night out this season. Excellent and strong on D, while providing a helluva a stat line in all departments. His best game by far!
Jones - I like the way he plays focused every minute he's on the court. He will make a great swing man from the two guard to the SF at various points in the year. The kind of guy that can have a big 30 point game at any given time.
Walton - He'll get there, you can tell by the end of the game the legs were slowly kicking back into gear. I have all the faith in the world that Luke will be a heavy contributor this year.

As you can tell, I loved this game tonight (sans the turnovers, I'd like to see a max of 15-16 turnovers per game from a running team and 10-12 turnovers for half court teams). Like we're all saying this team will grab a lot of other teams by surprise this year. The sky's the limit with this kind of comraderie and team spirit flowing on the court. That kind of attitude can make a mediocre team or player into big time performers.

Bring on the Sonics and let's shut Ray Allens' mouth for good this time.

I just realized that they left Nwanko off the box score, and he scored too. That's sad, people are already forgetting about him.

Impressed -

we spread around the minutes pretty well and gave kobe a rest. Still got the W. Phoenix played 4 of their starters extensive minutes (32+) and we still worked them all game.

shot 52% from the field

30 assists on 44 buckets.
Image

60 points in the first half, dont know the exact numbers but we got a lot of points in the paint. A lot of good shots.

Actually outrebounded them 53-35, didnt expect that

Caron - 13 BOARDS IN 26 MINUTES!!!!

Cook, another good showing

JJ - 8 minutes, 4 rebounds.

didnt like the 25 TO's, that has to come down. I expect them to be somewhat high if were running a lot but 25 is about 10 too many

Good game for the pre-season, gives us a little to look forward to. W or L means nothing but there was some little things that show promise to carry over to the regular season like high assist numbers and productivity across the board. We truly have a deep team
