Very simple. The Lakers have only 4 keys to focus on to win.
1. Feed the bigs. Pau, Drew, LO, and even Kobe in the post, puts a ton of pressure on Houston because they can't afford foul trouble. Pau and Drew should play extremely aggressive, get into Hayes' and Scola's bodies, and force them to foul. It starts with RUNNING the floor hard to get early and low post position. Pau can get real lazy at times and needs to avoid that.
2. BOX OUT!!!!!! Houston shot goes up, don't just turn and look at the rim with your arms wide (LO and Pau), find Scola, Hayes, and Ron, put a body on them. Whoever wins the rebound battle likely wins the game. With our size, if we get outrebouned it is because of lazy play.
3. DON'T DOUBLE SCOLA or Landry or Hayes. Never. Ron is a different story as Kobe or Ariza may need some help. In other words, stay home on Brooks, Battier, and Wafer. Do that, and Houston won't score more than 85 points.
4. Bigs have to be energetic (not lazy) in defending the pick and roll on Brooks. Fish can't handle him. Maybe Phil will have another adjustment, but I doubt it. Focus on him and Pau and LO need to keep their heads moving to see when he blows by Fish (Fish will say he his funneling Brooks, whatever). Play Brooks with high energy from Fish, Farmar, and Shannon -- on O to. Brooks is the ONLY player to focus on stopping in this game. All others can be handled one-on-one easily.
One other note -- I think Walton will be key tonight. On Landry, Hayes, and Ron. I know it sounds crazy but its true. He can do a decent job one on one against those guys, and give our bigs rest and out of foul trouble. Luke is the X factor tonight. I am nuts, I know.
Of course, the real X-factor is Drew. If he drops 20 and 10, we win.
Go Lake Show!!! I am sick of hearing about the Nuggets.
