Lakers Stopped by Spurs; Kobe an All-Star
The Lakers rallied late but fell short to the Spurs at home, losing 103-91 Thursday. Lamar Odom doubled up with 23 points and 13 rebounds; Chucky Atkins chipped in 18 points and five assists. Earlier in the day Kobe Bryant was picked by fans to start for the Western Conference at the Feb. 20 All-Star Game in Denver.

This could be a scary game for the Spurs. They might take for granted that Kobe is out and end up struggling all game long (like they have done in the past when they take teams for granted). This is not an automatic loss for you guys so don't act like it!

BTW if the Spurs DO win this one, Pop will be coaching the ASG and Tim Duncan will get a whopping 5 minutes of PT lol

hopefully Pop limits the minutes of their few of their starters to make it even ;)

Because if the Lakers beat this Spurs team without Rudy & Kobe... Damn.

But I don't see that happening... I see us getting down and out quick and early.

Well the Spurs only see yellow jerseys who brought them heartaches in years past. I see them treating this game as if against Kobe and Shaq are still playing. In my heart, I can't watch this wreck waiting to happen.. but I still will GO LAKERS!!!

So did Toronto and Memphis....the point is any team can beat any other team on any given night. If this was an automatic W for the Spurs a game wouldn't even be played.

This is the most sure that I have even been of a Spurs' victory. If I had to wager my life on one Spurs game, this would be it. The Spurs will take care of business and stomp the ever lovin crap out of the Lakers in front of their fans. They will make them pay for that 0.4 sec shot for the next 6 yrs.

Want to beat the Lakers? Just take a deep breath and blow. They have the stability of a straw house.

Staples should give the Spurs the red easy button as seen on tv because this one should be a huge W.

No Kobe? Spurs cruise effortlessly. Yes, effortlessly. Yes, indeed...E-F-F-O-R-T-L-E-S-S-L-Y.

As you can see...Spursfans are a bit cocky about this one

With the Lakers still Kobeless, I'm pretty sure we can win this one. But again, if the Spurs take it for granted I can see it biting them in the [Swearing is not permitted at Clublakers. You must edit this post prior to submitting.]. Hopefully Pop doesn't try anything screwy so he doesn't have to coach the ASG

I agree this should be an easy win, but the Spurs have a bad habit of turning an easy win into an ugly loss! However, they are playing one of their old nemisis, the Lakers, and I just don't see them letting this one get away.

Atkins and Butler have been playing really well lately Spurs will need to keep them in check to avoid a loss to the Kobeless Lakers.

I agree with SpursinDC about turning an easy win into an ugly loss. LA could play an inspired game. But if the Spurs are aggressive from the start they should get this one fairly easy.

Well I expect the game will be out of reach for the Lakers around the late 2nd or early 3rd quarter so we may actually see some play from Bobbit and Slava.

We should go ahead and tempolariy ban grego and ginofan becuase I have a feeling they will be gloating about this victory for a long time.

Just kidding about the ban thing just a little joke. Me and probaly most of the people here are going to need to laugh about something after this game.

lol, it's not fun to gloat over a win against the lakers anymore, to my extreme dissapointment the rivalry is just not the same anymore *sigh*

But don't mind me if I show up in the gameday thread during the game rooting for the Spurs
