No Duncan, but it’s still hot rivalry
Because of injuries, Lakers-Spurs won’t be playoff preview
Nov. 5 — Tim Duncan won’t play Thursday night when the Los Angeles Lakers visit San Antonio, which is too bad, because you just know Shaquille O’Neal did a couple of extra deep-knee bends over the summer in preparation for a early season showdown with the league’s MVP.
...
In that quest, each game is critical, because the Lakers know that the West is even more formidable this year, and teams like the Spurs, Timberwolves, Kings and Mavericks all will likely be enjoying fruitful regular seasons.
...
The Lakers are hungry, feeling they were robbed of what is rightfully theirs last season. The Spurs face the same problem every defending champion confronts — dealing with the grind of a long regular season and the pressure of having everyone gunning for you.

As long as I've been watching sports, which is quite a long time, one thing that I've noticed is that when you have a team that is handicapped as the Spurs are tonight, the FAVORED team which is definately the Lakers, always seems to lose more times than not. It's like that in all sports, so beware Laker's!!! Don't let your guards down!!!
