Lakers Humble The Hornets
Los Angeles led by 20 after three quarters and cruised to a breezy 107-88 win Tuesday over New Orleans. Kobe Bryant tallied 23 points, Gary Payton added 20 and Shaquille O'Neal finished with 15 for the Lakers, who have won nine straight. Los Angeles is now just 1½ games behind first-place Sacramento in the West standings.

Against New Orleans?

Oh there's an injury update:

Jamal Mashburn is on the IR
And B-Diddy won't be there, it's assumed that he'll miss the entire road trip

so that leaves streaky David Wesley and Darrell Armstrong to handle the slack, and I've been keeping track with stat lines, and trust me these two have been slumping lately. Darrell forgot how to play as a starter and Wesley's recently just returned from injury. We have to beware of PJ Brown (last time he shot 7-7 against us) and of course Jamaal Magloire. The Hornets are a veteran team with a young coach that doesn't fit, and losing to the Hawks tells you something, they've been slumping. They are 37-36, hardly ahead of Milwaukee, but based on how we played against Utah I'm still undecided. Currently I'll predict a Laker win, should be easy if we defend...but with all of these injuries murdering the Hornets it should be easy...our bench needs to step up!...no more 4th quarter runs!

Oh yes...and New Orleans has good defenders in Stacey Augmon and George Lynch...and good bench big men in Tractor Traylor and David West (who was a draft steal, the guy can rebound) and great shooters in Steve Smith and Shammond Williams off the bench. And they recently just signed our very own Maurice Carter

Baron Davis suffered a sprained left ankle during the third quarter of the March 23rd game versus Detroit and will not play in Thursday night's game at Atlanta.

An MRI today revealed a sprain of the left ankle and he will be listed as day to day after Thursday's game.

and he's already said he won't play the road trip, or at least against the Lakers

Yep exactly, i actually expect a close game again since our team gets lazy and cocky with these mediocre teams. It aint funny, we should just murder these teams by 30 points daily.
but hey as long as we get the W, im cool with that.

It'll either be a HUGE blowout or another boring (until the 4th quarter) close win I might even turn to Fox Sports 2 just to see that new show with the women commenting on the game.

likely...I don't want to second guess, but it might turn out to be because the Lakers seem to be drifting back to their old ways after that Utah win...Marc Stein has given us #1 in the ESPN power rankings, but we need to play defense like champions first. Easy wins won't cut it.

This game should be very easy, but if we don't kick it up an notch and play like we did against the Jazz, then this will be a close game.

Take a look at the projected starters, the Hornets starters are a joke:

he will play and the Hornets should not be a problem for him. He guards the player that we were considering getting instead of him and a rook.

And don't you mean tomorrow's game?

How can you be so sure of him playing. I thought it said questionable. or is there another link claiming he is ready to go for tomorrows game.

Hornets have lost a few games lately. We should win but I think it will be close.

It's gonna be deja vu again if we sleepwalk against New Orleans like we did with Utah.

We'll probably whup on the Hornets for a good double digit lead. Then we get too arrogant. Phil throws in his 2nd unit. The lead starts dwindling. Phil won't call a timeout, but instead does his little Zen chant. The Big 4 return. Hornets tie us up. Phil suddenly yanks Kobe out of the game. Hornets lead by 2. A little more Zen drum banging and Kobe's back in. We seal the game with free throws.

Could be another long night.

we'll beat them, it's just that we play at the level of the competition, it just shows how the regular season we are not as intense and it shows that we can do that because we are so good.

playing to the level of the competition isnt good, but you know you are a good team when u have the ability to do that
